Carvex with barrel grip..

I have the carved barrel grip and always cut with the saw underneath the material so the line is always clearly visible and I find I have more control this way and it always gives a clean fave cut. The switch is in e a key the right place for my preferred method of cutting. The only draw back, as it happened today is pulling the saw out of the tool box with the head first and inadvertently seeing the saw of f ... bit dangerous, won't do that again. Which ever way the saw is used for cutting I much prefer the barrel to the d grip, you are much lower I.e. closer to the cutting (barrel  ) and more control is available.

I enjoyed my barrel grip Trion but struggle with way I work using barrel grip Carvex  Start is farther away on Carvex than I prefer. .   Love all the attachments and strobe just need to change my working habits

I agree with you about the problem with the location of the on/off switch on the Carvex.  See my comments about this in the thread: http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-reviews/festool-carvex-420-(both-mains-and-battery-powered)-comparisons/msg299525/?topicseen#msg299525

-1 on barrel grip. I've got one and wish I'd gone with d handle. Trigger on barrel is dangerous, push forward for on then reach and push forward for off. Speed control not good on auto as you have to switch off to get slower idle speed back. Automatic speed control just goes from idle to full speed when it comes under load there's no sensing speed needed.
I do like the my jigsaw but having used a d handle it's definitely the better jigsaw. Speed control on the d is on trigger pressure.
Also don't rule out a battery one with new 4.2a.h batteries they're amazing.

Thanks for all of the replies!!

I am going with the barrel grip. Especially since I am using a thousand pound steel craftsman from sometime B.C.. This will be such a game changer!

I will adjust to the switch issues especially since I am just getting my woodworking act together and am not used to anything else but junk.. I also am taking note of how the pros I see in videos work with it.
