Hey folks!
To get the hang of a tool i build things for our animals before i try my hand  at furniture.
This time i build a cat tree. I always thought that the cat-trees i had seen at the local dealer lacked one attribute: stability.
The joints of the 'box' are mitred with 4pcs 6mm Dominos in each corner. The table underneath is also joined by Dominos. The 'pillars' go right through the top-lock and are fastened to the boxwalls by screws and glue. During construction my daughter was the test-dummy, she had to sit at the lower plateau with all of her 27kg.
The project gave me opportunity to try out mitred Domino-joints, Vecturo-cutouts , carcass-building and i've been using Osmo-oil for the first time.
I'm quite happy with the result, and our cats as well.
Any constructive critique is welcome and appreciated.

P.s: can some kind soul turn the pics so they're upright??

Thar's better!  Those tabbies sure look a lot nicer when they aren't hanging upside down! [big grin]

charley1968, That is some nice work you have there.  Great job and I see the new residents seem to be happy with it!  The rope around the uprights is a brilliant idea.  Do you plan on putting carpet or anything else on the horizontal surfaces?

Mike A.

Thanx Mike. I didn't plan to put on carpet, because it feels so nice to the touch haing been sanded and oiled with 2 coats...
But then my wife and my daughter were sitting on it while putting on their shoes and small bits of sisal are coming off and one one of the cats was gliding when she was taking a running jump: so yes i probably will, even if i'd like to keep it 'plain'.
