I forgot to mention something that I found out at a Roadshow event.

The knobs that hold on the green splinter guards that mount on the TS55-REQ and the TS55-EQ look similar and are of the same diameter.  If you accidentally grab one that belonged with the TS55-EQ and accidentally insert it into the TS55-REQ it will thread and you will think that everything is ok until you start your saw and plunge.  The old screws are longer and your blade will make contact.

Just wanted to pass this on.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to get the newer saw. Kept the 75 on the recall.  [smile]

The title and info is just a little misleading. Peter was explaining that the thumbscrew for the TS55EQ is longer than the TS55REQ for the outrigger splinter guard. If you use the thumbscrew from a TS55EQ in a TS55REQ, it will be long enough to touch the blade. So the warning applies only to people that own both saws and use the wrong screw for the REQ.

The thumbscrew is longer only for the first cut...  [tongue]

BTW thanks for the info.
