Ceiling Vac Hose Hook?? I'm overthinking this...

I only recently figured out the utility of having the vac hose suspended from above either via boom or hook.  I'd like to set up some kind of hook in a couple of locations in my shop. 

I tried a ladder hook from Home Depot.  Unfortunately, the ribs of the hose would catch on the hook making it difficult to pull as needed.  I tried adding a segment of garden hose on the flat of the hook, but that hasn't quite worked well either.  I'm considering making my own "hooks" out of wood - perhaps a simple square ring with a pvc roller. 

Just wondering if there's a simple solution I'm overlooking.

I have four of these hooks hanging in my garage.  They work great for the ribbed hoses.  The soft rubber pad will turn when you pull on the hose, so that the ridges don't catch.  Cheap, too, and even come with the mounting screws.  Can be attached to the ceiling/rafters or to the wall:

If it's only going to a single area you may want to use a plastic rain gutter with high volume outlets on both ends,  one cut open to aid with getting the vacuum hose  in and the other end where the hose exits on the work end leave uncut to trap the hose and keep it from falling out.  If it has to be movable try 3 inch drain pipe, either insert the pivot end into a larger pipe or use the same size pipe and use a large amount silicone pipe lube  (not  sealant in the caulk tube, this is the product to make a  slip connection in drain pipe ) use some 2x or steel pipe to support the working end.  Just a thought.

If you are hanging it from something on the ceiling ............ 

      I have a bungee cord loop , sort of noose shaped, that I run the hose through. I place a roughly 6" long section of 1" PVC conduit at the bottom (a curved piece). It keeps the loop open and lets the hose slide easily so that the ribs don't catch. You need to remove one hook from the cord to put the conduit on.

      A piece of PVC pipe might work on other types of arrangements or hooks also.

I'm with Seth. I use a bungee cord attached to an eyelet screwed into the ceiling. When I need the hose held up out of the way I just lift it up, wrap the bungee around it, and hook the bungee to itself.
