Hmmm... Did someone mention Imperial Centrotec bits?  [big grin]

WOW!

Ok Shane, when are we gettin' em'?

Bob

Just as soon as they get them past UL.  ::) ::)

Those will fill some gaps for us. Keep 'em coming, Shane. Also, how about the box? Can you make that a separately available item? It loolks a bit better than what the metric set came in.

Glad to see this Shane. I was beginning to think this was a dead idea after the poll. Long live the Queen, well at least her standard for measurement.  ;D

Brice, I think that the Queen has seen the light and Britain is now a lot more metric than its was.  [smile]

I grant you that the some folks in the UK are dragging their feet a bit, but they are doing a much better job of conversion to a modern measurement system than Canada is.  [crying]

If these sets become available in North America, I will not be purchasing one.  I want a wider selection of metric sizes and I hope that Festool will not forget that requirement in the potential euphoria over providing imperial sized drill bits.

Thought that would get everyone's attention!  Here are some additional photos which should answer the question(s) regarding packaging. I will post more details as they become available but we have to get information to our dealers first.  Regarding a time frame, expect to see these VERY soon.

No Frank, the queen still holds on to the beloved Imperial system, her subjects however were more easily persuaded.  ;)

I think Festool has heard the members here and I bet we'll see more sizes in metric.

Thanks Shane. Can't wait.

There is a great deal of time savings in that neat little package.

If the little kit fit perfectly into a small sortainer drawer it would be just too cool.

I don't know what size the case is but I'd guess its too big to fit in a small Sortainer drawer.

Perhaps just the bits along with the foam insert will fit.  Leave the case back at the office.

What about this?
AHHHHH!  Why isn't this stuff available in NA.  I know we've almost beat this horse to death but as others have mentioned here, I've been holding off on getting good quality bits until the wealth of centrotec stuff shows  up on this side of the pond.  Certainly this stuff can't be held up by UL.

This looks like a decent set. Although, I noticed there is only 9 different sizes of the 21 bit set, the rest are spares. I'd like to see an Imperial set of twist bits like this set too.

Shane, I've got a question, is this Imperial set a limited time promotional offer or will be a regular menu item?

Brice, it's my understanding this will be a regular catalog item.

Thanks Shane. I hoping these will be out soon, I need to get myself a few nice X-mas gifts and this set would certainly be one of them.

Dealers should be receiving information on these in the new few days and they will be available immediately thereafter.

I'm guessing $110.

That's a very nice set. I wish we had such a set over here too, in metric. All we get is a small 5 piece set. At least you even get a 1/2'' drill, over here there isn't even a corresponding 12mm drill. It stops at 10mm. Completely unbelievable. 12mm is one of my most used sizes, when I have to lead something through the wood for instance.

Alex,

Why don't you ask here for what you think would be an appropriate metric set like that.  Then Festool is Germany could hear about it - they do read this forum.  We'll get it here and it won't be available in Europe - NAIE - and then you can arrange for one of us to buy it for your and ship it as a gift?

I'm chuckling as I write this because I have a feeling (unsubstantiated of course) that it could could not happen.

Peter
