Centrotec Bit Holders

Does anyone know if Festool offers a wider selection of bit holders like the one that comes with the drill package(s).

I just picked up the Wood Drill Set (#492519) but those bits are all fixed to the Centrotec bit shaft.

I'm looking to be able to use my wide selection of imperial drill bits with the Eccentric Chuck as well as the Centrotec Chuck.

I've looked at the "Snappy" system, but that seems limited to smaller size bits.  Also they probably wouldn't fit directly into the Centrotec Chuck without an adapter/extension.

Part number 492648 will support some bit sizes, but most like not all your needs.

I love that drill, but the lack of Imperial bits, etc. and a square (Robbie) driver that fits the Centrotec makes me scratch my head. There's an Imperial base kit for the OF2200. The opportunity to sell Imperial Centrotec sets has to be a market 30 or more times the size of the OF2200 market.

Try "WIHA".  They are a German company making metric sizes.  Primarily hand tools and they do have a website.

If you are looking for Wera, Wiha, etc (German tools basically), check outhttp://chadstoolbox.com/.  I have no affiliation with these guys as I've only purchased from them.  They also have tool catalogs in PDF format for  Wiha, Wera, Knipex , etc.

You can modify/make your own as done here. Do a search on "centrotec" and you'll get lots of info.

I'm looking to be able to use my wide selection of imperial drill bits with the Eccentric Chuck...

The only thing I know which will enable you to use all your existing bits (albeit the small ones) is a drill chuck with a hex shaft, eg:

This is inserted into the ball-detent hex socket of the FastFix Eccentric Chuck, and at 24mm diameter in this case, gives 12mm (just less than 1/2") between the centre of the bit and a perpendicular surface like the side of a cabinet.

The hex chuck won't pull out of the eccentric chuck without first releasing the collar, so it won't fall out. Although there is some wobble, you'd also get wobble when you fitted a Centrotec drill bit into the Eccentric Chuck, as the eccentric chuck isn't a Centrotec one.

If you don't want to go that route, then you could buy hex-shafted drill bits, which would allow you to get closer to a perpendicular surface, but again you'd get a bit of wobble.

The hex chuck could be mounted into the drill's Centrotec chuck using the BH65 Centrotec to hex adapter, in the same way that the spade bits are mounted in the C12 Bits thread. The BH60 Centrotec to hex magnetic adapter would be an alternative, but the hex chuck would pull out, and might even fall out when pointed downwards.

Alternatively, you could grind the shank of the hex chuck to fit the Centrotec chuck, as was done in the Centrotec Square Drive Bit thread.
