Centrotec Set

As much as having the entire set would be nice, I really would like the driver handle, but I do not see Festool offering that as a standalone item.

At least in Europe, the handle is sold as single item "Festool 495228 CENTROTEC-DRIVE Screwdriver Handle", about 13 Euros.

I got one when I was over there this spring.  Handy to have!

I am a hobbist and will purchaes the 2011 Centrotec Set. Like any of the Festool I purchase I try to always buy the set. You save a little money and get all the neat accessories. At first glance you might not need all the accessories, but experiences has shown they always get used.

The Centrotec Set is expensive and you assume you might not use all the items but once you have them they will get used. Some time you never know how a bit or accessory is use until you get it. Then you figure out all kinds of ways to use it.

My other fear is not getting the accessories, being in the middle of a project and wishing I had the accessory. As hobbyist that means disrupting your very limited weekend time to order and wait a week for the accessory to ship. I would rather just get it up font, if I can afford it.

The second augment for the Centrotec Set is it is a LIMITED quantity item. It might be two years again before it is available again. Plus some of the item are ONLY available in the set.

Third augment is you save some money over the individual price, the down side is some of the items in the set are in quantities that the hobbyist might not use.

But I will still buy it.

Shane, will replacement bits be offered for the imperial sized brad point bits in the set?   (currently they are not)

I'm not aware of any plans to offer them.

Mark, I stated that we will be offered them separately later in the year. I don't have US/Canadian pricing or the exact date of availability.

To the OP:  I had been looking forward to the release of the Centrotec Set the minute I purchased my T15 this past January.  I knew the price was going to be high, but it's the number of stuff I know I won't use that has convinced me not to buy the set.  Instead, I have purchased the items I know I will use right now and I will be awaiting for the new items that I can purchase individually.  I did purchase the Twinbox because it has one of each bit.  I think the Twinbox is a wonderful idea for the hobbyist.  I don't know about you, but it takes me a long time to eat through my bits.

So with the money I believe I have saved by purchasing the items I definitely know I'll use, I will then role the extra money towards a CXS or C12.  I want to try both drills side-by-side prior to making a decision.  My local dealer has promised to give me a ring the minute they have a C12 in house.

Good luck with you decision, but think of all the other wonderful Festool items you can purchase if you don't buy the Centrotec Set.

Thank for all the replies!

Many of you have brought up points that I've also been considering. It would be nice to have the bits all together in one case and to have them when I need them, the set is cheaper than if I end up buying the contents separately and I could sell it for about what I paid for it if I ever decide I don't need the whole set.

But if I just bought the bits that I need now that would leave a decent chunk of change to go toward another tool.  Over $400 is a lot of money for some drill bits and drivers though (but I don't recall an expensive Festool purchase that I regretted after I used it!).
