As the title suggests, I am looking at getting one of the Centrotec sets, possibly the £340 priced one.

Having seen some other posts, is the 2011 set the one to have or is there a new one out now which is better?

I just want to make sure I don't get one which I will be disappointed with, or a new one roles out  [scared]

I am in the UK so not sure if you guys across the pond get variances on this product.

I guess it all depends on what you are giong to use it for. This one is the one I own and it does everything I need.

FESTOOL ACCESSORY 499623 CENTROTEC SET 2013 this set runs 155 pounds

This one is the larger set:

FESTOOL ACCESSORY 497628 SYS 1 CE-SORT Assembly package CENTROTEC SET is running 233 pounds both are at tool fest.

I did picked up a square drive bit and a counter sink plus a set of vix bits on top of the ect.

Other options are to buy the items separately and create your own set to fit your needs. They do sell the items separately.

It will cost you more.

Yeah it's as I was expecting. I'll have to have a look through see if I'll need some of the extra bits.

The one I got, came with the centrotec bit and had extra replacement bits.  It cost me about 180 Pounds. Though a tad pricey, I found I could or did use about everything in the kit. Meaning I used the drills (not all but the size I needed) different bits, torx, phillips etc,  and the different extensions.

I also added the counter sink, vix bits (self centering bits for hinges) and a centrotec square drive bit.  Plus the zobo bits.

I really like the square drive screws.

Plus I added some masonary bits from another manufacturer.

But I planned on buying this kit before I left the USA.

The one I had before only had a selection of drill bits that werent festool and werent in s systainer.

They werent as sharp or of the same quality as the festool bits.

My suggestion is to think through what your needs are.

Some dont need a kit or should get a kit because of the type of work they would use them for.

Johnny Round Boy (JRB) did a review on this site of another systainer with storage for bits in the lid and the kit festool made for that.

So think things through mate festool offers such a wide variety of kit.

You'll find what you need in either a for reals festool kit or one you put together yourself.

Is there any indication how long these sets will stay on the market?

It's going to take me a while before I can convince my wife that our family will be better off with $425 worth of drill bits. I'm just trying to figure out how long I have to get that done.

I just got an email from The Tool Nut that said they have limited stock left on one of the three sets, and I know Festool is out of at least one in Indiana. I would not wait too long personally!
(Just re-read original post - my comments are about N American availability!)
