cfm rating on lower power settings for vacs

The specs for all of the vacs indicate what the sound level is on the lower settings but never the cfm's. Since many sand with their CT on the low setting, I was wondering approximately how many cfm's are optimal for the sanders.

Hopefully others will weigh in, but there's no clear answer to your question. There are too many variables. The optimal CFM will depend on the surface area of the sanding pad, the grit of the abrasive, the material and other factors. Generally, for the smaller sanders in our line, you can turn the suction to its lowest settings to about 1/4 speed. The larger sanders and gear-driven sanders like the Rotex and RAS, full speed.

I don't think there is just one setting for the amount of suction use on a sander.

What I do is, I start sanding, and turn the suction down until the sander "floats", and spins freely.  You will notice that when your suction is turned up too high the rpm's of the sander will be reduce, and sometimes stopped.  This setting will vary from sander to sander, and will be effect by how full your filter bag is, for the older CT's anyway.  Hope this helps because I am not a very typer or explainer

Perhaps a simpler question then ... what is the cfm rating on low for the various CTs?
 
i think what you mean is at the end of a 27mm a/s hose 3.5m long . and what cfm should each sander get at the dc port.

Why??

Adjust  the vacuum to suit your application.
Also CFM(volume of air) is only half the answer,waterlift (suction) the other.
Check manual
