I think I've made a turn for the "worse."
Spied a team of arborists taking down a neighbor's maple tree (the upper part had rotted and was pretty much dead) and I couldn't help but make my way over and ask what they were going to do with the wood. Garbage - and they agreed to give me a couple of pieces and even Dingo them over to put in my truck. Gave them a bag of coffee as a Muchas Gracias and was on my way to my local sawyer who cut the logs in both 8/4 and 4/4 slabs. After some Armor Seal and stickers, they're now stacked under my deck for the long march to dryness.
Maybe in two years, they'll become chairs.
The arborists told me it is maple. My sawyer thinks it's maple but not sure which maple. If you might have any insight, I'd be interested to learn.
