Check this review out!

He is a complete fraud. His two other reviews (for cookware!) on amazon.com were also studies in complaining rated one star. Anyone reasonable would discount everything he has to say. I am surprised he can even spell Festool or Bosch.

Richard.

i agree richard. i checked out his other reviews. he has issues! i guess he wont be joining the fog anytime soon!

but his argument about the festool ets125 is sound. we know from the forum here, that some of the sanders require a break in period of roughly 8 hours. maybe his dealer did not pass this info on.....

his argument regarding the festool vac is ridiculous. this vac excels at fine dust collection with the sanders and saws. maybe he was using it for general site use which it can do well, but i am sure it was not designed for heavy construction site use.
i prefer festools sister company which is called protool. the protool vcp 450 is a great machine and perfect for heavy duty construction work.

Festool doesn't need me to defend them for sure, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents anyhow. I rarely place a great deal of faith in these type of reviews, particularly when I am familiar with the tools in question. Anger and just plain ignorance (CT vac bags @32.00 each, can't use the CT as a shop vac, etc.) can get the better of some people and the Internet offers a wide audience for venting. My first question for him would have been, why he simply didn't avail himself of Festool's 30 day $$ back guaranty? I know that I would have done just that if I paid out heavy coin for a couple of tools and they performed so miserably. But before I returned them I would have asked for some assistance/help from my dealer, instead of screamin' like a bitch on a forum.
I have been selling Festool tools for nearly 8 years and can literally count on 2 hands the total number of tools that customers had asked to be returned. That, more than anything, speaks of the inherent quality of the line.
Here is part of an email that I received from one of my customers about an hour ago:. He's a pro, not a hobbyist so he puts the tools through their paces. This is not an atypical email from Festool customers, as other Festool dealers can attest to.

Bob,

I have to tell you, every time I consider buying a Festool product I always wince at the cost. The stuff is just so expensive, usually 2-3 times the competition.  It takes time but in most cases I cave in and take the plunge.  Then I get the item, in the case of my most recent purchase, the Rotex 5 inch sander, I get it I take it out play with it and stick it back in my tool closet.  Then I take it out later and start to use it and I rediscover why I am continually drawn to spend the extra money.  The stuff is just so good, so well thought out.  It makes you capable of doing better quality work and whatever regret you may have over spending so much money just melts away.  I've got four tools and am about to buy the router and while I know I am buying the baby of the bunch the 1010 I know it will be able to handle whatever I find myself doing.

I use mine for a construction vac all the time, but if you had it set correctly for the sander you have to remember to turn the variable speed back up or you would get the performance results he is complaining about. Guess you just have to be smarter that the tool. Obviously that is where the problem appears to derive from with this very informed (ignorant) reviewer.

I am a professional and my entire shop and manufacturing processes are designed around the FesTool system, including sanders and vacs.  I wouldn't be in business without the fine quality tool system from FesTool and the completely awesome service by FesTool and their dealer network [read Bob Marino here  ;) ].

This guy is a troll, plain and simple - though an earlier observation about this person seems apt.

He will go the way of all trolls.

I am an amateur woodworker and I also wince and the price  --  but  --  when I think where I was headed in building a separate woodworking shop for my retirement use and enjoyment and all the costs of building, maintaining, heating, yearly property tax, etc. my Festools are a bargain.

Not only that  --  but most of my old 'heavy iron' has been gifted to my son and son-in-law.  The days spent doing some home projects for their places and developing a working relationship was and is priceless.

Not only that  --  but  --  during the past few weeks while my wife had been away exercising her new grandma responsibilities, I have been doing an semi-extensive kitchen refurb.  Most of the original just needed some TLC, but the sink and cooktop cabinets needed replacing.  So with the dining table temporarily relocated and an MFT in its place I have been going at it.  Of course the house will need a good 'dusting' when I'm done, but it is so much more convenient to have my "shop" right next to the work.  I wouldn't think of doing it this way with my old "heavy iron" machines.

I think the morning is far spent, so I'll stop my crowing and get back to work!

Maybee during one of the many falls his sanders took he fell with one of them & landed on his neep (head)  So he might be un well & delusional  [cool]

Another troll !!!!

I disagree with the fact that Festool tools cost that much more compare to other stuff.

Quality, innovation, german build and engineering has a price. In my other job, I use all the time instruments made in germany and in the USA where a small scissors will cost you at least 1000$... and they look identical to the ones you can find at the dollar store for 1$. But even if they look alike, the 1000$ one is sharp, perfect in my hand, will remain in perfect condition after thousands of trips to the autoclave and will be in service for 20 years if not more..

I don't think that you ever pay too much for festool tools.. in the end you're saving money.

Cheers,

Alex
