Chop saw main surface not even close to flat

I was making a table support for my chop saw. In the process of leveling the saw. I ran a precision straight edge on the main casting surface of the saw. I get a .055 deviation. The surface is tapered and not flat. How is one expected to maintain a square cut when the surface the board sits on is so poor. It looks like the casting is un-machined.
Could someone in the group check their saw to see how flat the casting is. I can`t believe .055 out of flat is considered normal. I`ve seen chop saws at less then the cost
that has the main surfaces ground or milled to a flat surface.

Welcome to the FOG!  Sorry to see your first post about something like this, but hopefully you have been visiting as guest for a while.  I would suggest that you contact Festool on Monday and talk to their service department.  The number is on your tool, or:  800-554-8741.

Better yet, try using the saw and see if it actually produces unsatisfactory results. Miter saws are funny things, what may seem like a egregious deviation does little or nothing to adversely effect the cut.  Also, with all the moving parts on a miter saw that deflect, the table is likely to be the least of your potential for "error".  My guess is you won't see any problems.  If you do have a problem call Festool (assuming we're talking about a Kapex here).
