Hi, my clamps look different from one another. One slides out completely bit other has dent which holds it from being apart.  I keep dropping part of clamp when I try to take out from MFT table. Is this a defect?

Something is fishy there? They are supposed to have that pressed "bump" to keep them from coming apart. I've never seen one without it.

Yeah. One of them missed the last step. You can hammer a flat on the edge, but I actually removed it on my clamps so I can use them on my workbench which has smaller dog holes.

Edit: Yours might also be made in Vietnam.

Ah so it is clearly a defect.  It's my first pair of clamps so didn't know which one was correct version.
Thanks!

hmmm... so maybe I should keep it as it is? I was dropping the piece when I tried to take it out from the hole... But now I come to think of it, it is bit easier to take out from the hole if I am being more careful. Not sure what to do lol

You can add a small binder clip (with or without the handles) as I do to keep the body from falling out.

Ya that's funny...as Chuck noted, they missed the staking step during manufacturing.

I took 4 of those clamps and removed the staking spot just so that I could separate the clamps to use on a 1 1/2" thick maple MFT top. I use a toilet cone washer to temporarily keep them together.

Wow I didn't know this was a good thing for some occasions. I guess I'll keep you this one for smaller hole use :)
