clarify festool pricing

bought parallel guide set today at my local festool dealer. i ended up walking out paying 417 after tax. i notice a price of 325 for the set on marino's and cop festool websites. i thought that i didn't have to double check the price before going to buy festool locally. i believe after tax i should have paid about 344. is the price not consistent?

I would have to defer to your dealer since they are the ones who sold it to you if you believe that you got overcharged. I have no insight into Woodcraft's the dealer's point of sale system. The published 2012 catalog price for the set is $325 USD.

Pretty sure I figured it out. The Guides are $252 + the Extensions $142  when the Guides and Extensions are purchased as seperate pieces/ units.    The $325 is the price if purchased as a set.  The seperate prices make the number come to what you paid.

Sorry Shane I don't follow. These did not come from Woodcraft. But the real question I have is how much control does the dealer have over the price if any. Could they charge me 20% more than festools listed prices? My understanding is that this would not be ok according to festool.

When that happened to me, I contacted the dealer, and they admitted it was a mistake and refunded me the difference.

Yep you need to go back there and get a refund they overcharged you. I doubt dealers would increase price

My apologies, not sure where I came up with a dealer's name. I guess it was late and somewhere my mind read that when it wasn't there.  [blink]

Regardless of the dealer, I would simply contact them and ask that they correct the price since you purchased them as a set. As Seth pointed out, it looks like you were charged based on purchasing them separately rather than as a set, which offers a discounted price. If your dealer's system supports our product numbers, ask them to ring it up using P00108 which is the product number for the set rather than 495717 and 495718 which are the two individual components.

About a year ago I was in immediate need of a TS 75 and went to Woodcraft in DE.  I purchased a few other things as well but when he rung me up it was almost $1200. WTF??  I realized he was charging me for the saw AND the guide rail even though it comes with the saw.  Took a few minutes to explain the issue and the associate deducted the guide rail.

It wasn't  a case of being gouged, just the sales associate didn't understand the product line and what comes with the tools.  I'm sure if you go back they will correct the issue.
