Classified purchase issue

The first used thing I ever bought on the internet was from Mathew over on knots(if memory serves me)!  I was nervous, but took a chance.  Worked out great.  I'm still using that incra fence on my router table. We all take chances and some work and some don't but expecting Mathew to police things and do it for us is to much IMO.    CAVEAT EMPTOR

It's sad to hear of people letting other people down - but I guess at least you both actually got most of the goods if not the whole deal.  I know someone locally (French) who was daft enough to buy a car on Ebay for 5000 euros and send the money by Western Union without any paperwork.  Its a shame he can't write it off as a charitable donation, because when he got in touch with me (- to ask me to try to contact the seller in the UK as I'm English -) it was obvious from the outset that he'd been swindled.  I guess he's an honest, trusting sort of person - perhaps a bit less so now.

On a brighter note, on the other FOG - Felder Owner's Group I made an enquiry about planer blades.  Another member said he had some spare and would be glad to sell them to me.  I said OK - he posted them out and they arrived before I'd even written the cheque (check).  I know it's silly to get excited and it's how things SHOULD be, but that gave me a really nice warm glow.  People helping each other out on this form has the same effect.  :) :)

I NEED the classified ads!! Festools are just beyond the upper limit of cost for me.  I'm a hobbyist. I've purchased one new item (OF 1400) from Bob. The rest of my Festools have either been bought from stores as demo units (discontinued model MFT's) or used from the FOG classified.  I've really enjoyed purchasing from other FOG members.  Even the fellow who "shorted" me a part seemed like a very nice person which leads me to believe he might be in a financial strap. One of my most fun days recently was when I went over to Indianapolis to purchase an Inca 259 table saw from a fellow who advertised it on the Inca SIG on Google groups to which I belong.  We talked for a couple of hours. Had a great time. Same with the fellow I bought my TS55 from in northern Ohio.
It's also sort of a game or entertainment for me.  I've got a mental list of tools I eventually want to purchase.  I check the FOG, CR and SC almost daily to see if any are there.  I end up getting the best tools at a good price.
Keep the classified section as-is.  Matthew doesn't need any more to do.  We're big kids and we can take care of ourselves.
