So I was originally planning on buying one of the Universal Cleaning Sets down the road. Figured everyone was saying how great the larger hose is, and it has the tubes, etc for general cleaning. I'm not really interested in the sets with the metal tubes (worried about dropping one and damaging stuff I'm building in my shop). But, for some reason I had in my mind that the hose that came with the Universal set was anti-static. Was at a store the other day and realized my assumption was wrong. I also realized that the plastic parts in the set are not anti-static either. So I guess I've got a couple questions. (I'll primarily be using this for cleaning my shop, woodworking bench, etc., after I sweep up all the big hand plane shavings).
1) Is there really any advantage to having an anti-static hose when the tubes and cleaning attachment are not?
2) I'm assuming the major advantage to the larger anti-static hose is when connecting directly to one of the tools that need the larger hose. Is this correct, and why many of you wax poetically about having that hose?
I'm thinking that maybe it makes sense to just buy the compact set, and then down the road if I just want a larger tube buy that separately, either in the non-antistatic form, the AS one, or maybe I'll change my mind and want one of the sets with the better floor brush, comes with the metal tubes, etc. Or just get the Universal set from the start (I'm not sure I would be buying any of the tools that use the larger hose directly; I could see a domino down the road, but I enjoy using hand tools when making furniture). Just trying to figure out if my thought process is valid.
Also, one other question. Is there a difference on the stiffness of the bristles between the suction brush (440404) and the universal brush nozzle (498527)?
