Cleaning set and AS hose question

So I was originally planning on buying one of the Universal Cleaning Sets down the road.  Figured everyone was saying how great the larger hose is, and it has the tubes, etc for general cleaning.  I'm not really interested in the sets with the metal tubes (worried about dropping one and damaging stuff I'm building in my shop).  But, for some reason I had in my mind that the hose that came with the Universal set was anti-static.  Was at a store the other day and realized my assumption was wrong.  I also realized that the plastic parts in the set are not anti-static either.  So I guess I've got a couple questions. (I'll primarily be using this for cleaning my shop, woodworking bench, etc., after I sweep up all the big hand plane shavings).

1) Is there really any advantage to having an anti-static hose when the tubes and cleaning attachment are not?
2) I'm assuming the major advantage to the larger anti-static hose is when connecting directly to one of the tools that need the larger hose.  Is this correct, and why many of you wax poetically about having that hose?

I'm thinking that maybe it makes sense to just buy the compact set, and then down the road if I just want a larger tube buy that separately, either in the non-antistatic form, the AS one, or maybe I'll change my mind and want one of the sets with the better floor brush, comes with the metal tubes, etc.  Or just get the Universal set from the start (I'm not sure I would be buying any of the tools that use the larger hose directly;  I could see a domino down the road, but I enjoy using hand tools when making furniture).  Just trying to figure out if my thought process is valid.

Also, one other question.  Is there a difference on the stiffness of the bristles between the suction brush (440404) and the universal brush nozzle (498527)?

Hi,

All of the tubes and nozzles fit either the D27 or D36 hose with the exception of the tubes and nozzles for the D50 hose. So adding a tube in the future that is larger is not really an option. I use the Compact sets because I prefer the plastic nozzles to the metal ones.

The larger hose (D36) is helpful for clean up and makes a big difference on some tools.

The Universal has non-AS hose. The Tradesman / Installer and the Workshop sets have the AS hose.

Big price differences. If you really don't think you will need the D36 hose for a tool, then I'd go with the Compact and get the hose down the road if and when needed. Especially if you prefer plastic tubes.

Thanks.

When I was mentioning a larger hose I should have been more clear.  I meant the D36, not the D50.  I don't think I need one that big.

What are some of the tools that the D36 helps with?  I'm assuming the Kapex.  What else?  The routers?

Kapex, OF 1400, OF 2200, HL 850, TS 75, TS 55. The improvement for the TS 55/75 is minimal though.

I got the Universal Cleaning Kit to use with my OF 1400. It made a huge difference. I live in a very dry climate and so far the non A S hose is not a problem. It is also handy to have the tubes and hose in a systainer for storage. When I use the router the 27 mm hose stores in the hose garage of my CT 36 out of the way. When I need to use the CT as a vac., I know where the parts are. All in all very handy.
