Cleantec adaptors

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd post this info as it took me some time to get it from festool UK.

I recently converted my existing tools (the ones that I could) to the new Cleantec bayonet hose system.

Here are the part numbers for the items:

DS 500 Domino    #10027879  (£2.50 + vat)
DS 700 Domino    #10027826  (£3.50 + vat)
R0 150 Rotex        #10025410  (£5.50 + vat)
TS 55R                #202096      (£9.31 + vat)

It's worth noting that the DF700 is the only tool that fits back into it's systainer without modification once the new connector is fitted.
With the DF500 I had to cut the insert for it to fit. With the TS55R you have to remove the nozzle every time you put in the box or as the paperwork provided explains that you can buy a new insert #201912 if you want it to fit without removal.

Some are "cheap plastic" ones and others are more expensive and made of aluminium and are more difficult to replace.

I don't know, my first impressions are it's a yawn at best.

If I were working with a sander on a ladder all day, then I can see some benefit. 

Otherwise, I find it it to be more of a pain to switch tools, and some have experienced performance issues with the new connector.  It seems like this was one of those solutions looking for a problem.

You've mentioned this before, but I disagree.  I dislike the current push in connector, its not particularly easy to do, there is no feedback that it is on all the way, and it comes off from time to time.  This may not be the best solution, but there is certainly room for improvement in the current design.

Does anyone know if they are making 36mm Cleantec adapters?
My TS55 is the biggest offender in terms of having the hose fall out, but I'm hesitant to downgrade dust collection to the 27mm hose.

Besides the TS55 not fitting in the systainer sucks slightly.

Are you saying you find it easier to attach a new cleantec adapter  ?    I'd be interested in hearing other opinions too.  I find them to be about the same difficulty, just in a different way.  The old style gives you a visual mark as a que, and you simply can't push anymore . 

I find getting either connector on an of1010 is just a PIA whether cleantec or old style.  It only gets easier as the connector becomes older and more supple from use.  Sliding either onto an ETS EC is the same - you can't push it any further.  Same on the TS55.  Though a worn connector tends to easily pull out of that fitting.  I don't find the 27mm hose a downgrade except on ripping hardwood.  It works just fine on MDF & particle board kitchen panels and plywood and is a lot easier to handle over the 36mm size.

I also find the locking slots on the cleantec take a bit of a learning curve to align properly. Someone else posted a thread about this after Pro5 debuted.  It just seems a bit of a wash, and I am just wondering what the overall tally will be from others.  You love it and it meets your needs - me not so much.  It didn't do anything for me and it might just have negative performance issues on some of the tools I use.

So on the whole, will this be a net benefit to more people, or a net loss, or simply a push ? Shifting an issue from one group of users to another.

Not a big beal, but I can't tell you the number of times I grabbed the saw and went to hook up the vacuum hose and "crap", back to the systainer to grab the dust port.  [unsure].

I thought this when I first put it on my ts55, but I rather like it now after it has "broken in". I cant really say that I have to much of an issue with turning it and making sure the arrows line up.

Just got a Trion last week, it had the cleantec connector for both the jigsaw and a connector for a Festool hose with it.  I wish it had the origional adapter instead as that is what my domino has on it.  The trion is an older model, so it is strange the domino connector isn't available in North America yet...

Indeed.  With present currency exchange rates, though (particularly b/w US and GB -- thanks Brexit!), it's become more economical to import NAINA accessories to the states.

Man I just bought ALL my Festool tools in the last three months and so far the only one that came with the new Cleantec connector was the Pro 5. Now I have to spend MORE on each tool to order the adapters for each one. Im not really happy about that.
