Hi there,

Recently joined and was wondering if anyone knew whether the sliding table for the CMS works as a sliding crosscut when the TS 55R module is in use???

Looking forward to some advice!

Welcome to the FOG jonnypang! Be sure to say hello and introduce yourself on the UK and Southern Ireland thread (follow the link in my signature).

To answer your question, yes you can use the sliding table for crosscuts when the TS 55R or TS 75 modules are in use. I have the CMS GE and various options, including the TS 75 module and sliding table, so if you have any further questions, let me know.

What is the part # on the table with the fence?

If you didn't mean "part" and meant "part number", and were enquiring about the table to the right of the CMS-GE, then it is the VB-CMS table, Part Number 493822.

Note that the fence is a separate item, Festool Stopper LA-CS 50/CMS, Part Number 492095.

Hello Garry,
Can I purchase these from an international dealer and have them shipped to the USA?
Will it work with a CMS/VL connected to an MFT/3?
Will it work with an older TS55?

Thanks

Unfortunately I don't think you will be able to get them shipped to the USA from an international dealer.

Although there are various options for the CMS-GE and MFT/3-VL in Europe, most are NAINA.

neeleman has some good info in a different thread.

It looks like 493822 is available on ekat as 493822_USA, so is that available through dealers, or just the parts?

I'm afraid it doesn't show up on the USA master list...

Part # = Part Number

You answered my question. The table and fence make it a decent portable table saw. Any idea what the cutting capacity is to the right of the blade. Having the slider to the right is the best feature though.

Brilliant! Thanks for the help Garry! How do you rate it as a portable/ small workshop trimming saw? Do you recommend any particular attachments, i.e, rip fence, extension table, crosscut stops???

Is there a built in measuring system on the front or do you have to go old school with a tape measure. I will say that while it looks nice and I am sure works well for about $400 you can get a nice Dewalt portable table saw with at least the same capacity and a real nice geared fence system for repeatable cuts. It's about the same size as the CMS frame, but no sliding table which is a huge feature.

I am 90% Festool with the exception of the stationary tools in my shop, a Milwaukee right angle drill (can't beat them), a Fein MultiMaster (will be switching to the Festool soon), jamb saw, and some extra routers (you can't have too many). The small Dewalt table saw is the other exception.

Believe me I want the CMS, but I am worried its only because it looks neat.

I have the TS 75 module in mine, and it works well for what it is. The sliding table is a definite recommendation, as are the extension tables depending on the work you do. The "fence" however leaves a lot to be desired - repeatability is poor, and it's a pain to use and not straightforward to lock parallel. It's the biggest let down of the whole system for me.

There is a measure on the front edge of the CMS-GE, and also a continuation on the CMS-VB extension table.

Hi Garry! Was wondering if you knew the names or part numbers for the extension tables on the rip and crosscut?
Are they the, table VL and table VB CMS??? How do you rate the rip fence....???? Any extras you recommend???

I recommend the side extension for increased rip capacity and the CS 50 stopper (fence), If I had to chose between the 2 I would go with the side extension
