cms system

hey Gene , i am in the uk did'nt realise it was'nt available in the us,thanks anyway.

Mark,

Even though the CMS is not available in the US currently, I think you may still get some feedback from forum members.  We have members spanning the global and in countries where the CMS is available.  Welcome to the forum, we hope to see more of you on here.

Shane

hi mark and welcome to the forum.

first off, i highly recommend changing your profile status so we can all see that you are not from the u.s.
it makes it so much easier to answer questions when we can see what part of the world they are coming from.

ok. now thats out of the way!

the cms is an awesome versatile tool.
i currently have the ts-75, trion jigsaw and of1400 router modules which i can use with the cms.
i use the ts-75 module on site every week. i leave it in the cms permanently.
i can cut all my sheet goods onsite with the ts-55.
i love the fact it is small and lightweight.
dust collection is 70 - 80 percent. i use the long life filter bag in a ct-33 for site work.
i have used it without the vac and it was a big bloody mess. never again!
i have not used the sliding table fence much as i dont have the room in my small workshop area!
but i have tried it out and the sliding fence glides beautifully. i think this is an extra feature that sets it apart from your average portable contractors table saw.

i recently ripped 200 pine facia boards. the boards were 5.4 metres long. thats over a kilometre of boards ripped and the ts-75 never missed a beat. then again it was only pine so it was never under stress.
i used the crown extension from the kapex which can be attached to any side of the cms. then i attached a festool guide rail screw clamp with a little piece of timber to act as a guide whilst ripping so much timber.
it was a great idea that someone on this forum came up with!

i would like to see festool offering a featherboard for use with the cms table saw.
it is an aluminium table so the standard magnetic featherboards are useless.
come on festool, surely you can help us out here!

i dont use the jigsaw module onsite. i only use it in my small single garage workshop.  i dont have room for a bandsaw. so this is the next best thing.
i have used the jigsaw for several projects such as childrens toys and furniture making.
same goes with the router module.

by the way. the aussie dollar is going great at the minute and the english pound is a shocker.
i have spoke to my sister who lives in london about buying festool from the u.k. and then shipping to australia.
here in australia we pay twice as much for certain festool items.
one example is the extra sturdy fence for the cms. model no 492 095.
i can buy it in the u.k. and pay for shipping to australia. it still works out about half the aussie price.
so the moral of this story would be, if you live in the u.k. now is a really good time to buy, buy, buy!

i am sure when the cms hits american shores, it will be a huge hit over there.
it is very lightweight but it hits like a heavy weight, dont forget the ts-75 is a very powerful saw with more than enough grunt for the hardest aussie timbers.
and it looks cool too!

regards, justin.

I'm from Holland and I bought the TS55 and the CMS as my first Festools. The CMS is a near perfect tool. It is very precise. I still wonder why the US FOGgers are not demonstrating 'en masse' in Washington to get it to the USA.  [eek]
I'm in the process of moving to the USA, but my CMS will go with me. All other electrical tools will be sold.
Buy it and you will not regret it.

when are you planning on moving back?
I might ask you to do some shoping for me [smile]
Like some plug it pig tales

Craig

Craig, cant you even get the pig tails in the states ?  That's shocking.  I just got a pig tail & one of the green power cords to adapt my Fein Multimaster which now lives in a systainer (sorry Jonny, i stole your idea  ;) )  Cant you mail order them ?

Woodguy.

NOPE
[mad]
They are NAINA  I am sure Festool would love to sell em here.

Hey Shane what about having the little plainer run through UL with a pig tail  so we could order it as a replacement part.??????

Craig

one advice buy TS 75 for cms and TS 55 for regularly use,

my first set was TS 55 and CMS basic, and I was not so happy to change it all the time, special when I got MTF3 ... now I got CS70 set and everything is on place ( I'm still using CMS for router 2200 and jigsag ,  )

Pawel

ps. Hi to everyone, first post :) and, sorry for language but I'm from Poland, and when I was at school, our big brother Soviet Union was our bigest friend, so we had to learn there language :)

Dzien dobry Pawel

Bardzo mi miwo! Witam do FOG!

Your English is better than my Polish so dont apologise!

Welcome to the Festool Owners Group, Pawel.

It certainly appears that you have learned a third language (after Polish and Russian) well.

THNX for nice welcome, even some words in my language  [eek]

hmmm frankly, I did learn English when I start to work in norway 5 years ago,  so  Jeg er ogsa snakke litt norsk  [tongue], and there it was my first time with festool :)
but I think now we are going of topic sorry marko63 and I will find better part of forum to tell you my life story, if some one will be intersted, of course  [big grin]

Hi Mark just in case you decided to go for the CMS set up  did you see that there is a table and TS55 module for sale on Ebay.co.uk ending in four days ?
regards fishy

I'm tempted to sell my TS55 module, keep my /ts55, buy a TS75 module and TS75. When i use the table, i tend to find i rip 2" stuff (cutting 2x4 down) and it needs a little more oomph! TS55 & Sheet stuff = great so it won't be sold... The OF1400 module is darn usefull... The only other one i'd get is for the jigsaw...

hi paul. i bought the ts 75 cms-ge because of the reasons you just stated.
it has the extra power and depth for cuting thicker material.

i use the ts 55 for sheet goods and love it!
the jigsaw module comes in handy too.

regards, justin.

Any observations on this issue please!

I am considering buying the CMS routing template to mount the OF2200, but wonder if the template can be mounted in a shop made bench?

I am a bit loathe to pay £406 for a table that would not go out with me, but remain in the workshop.
