CMS TS 55 /55R saw module

Can anyone explain what that irritating widget actually does on the TS55 model?

I hate trying to sqeeze it in place when I need to remove/insert my 55 into the CMS insert and it has no apparent function that I can tell?

In the CMS TS 75 manual, it is called "clip for protective cover mounting bracket" and the replacement riving knife is called "protective cover mounting bracket", so I assume it is something that helps to secure the replacement riving knife.

The riving knife/dust shroud combo is not required for sawing and frankly I haven't bothered to install it a single time yet on mine and use the saw with its integrated riving knife in the CMS module as well.

Given that you don't use the replacement riving knife and dust shroud, I'm *presuming* fitting the "splitting wedge barricade" all this time has been somewhat of a waste!  [blink]  [big grin]

Finally got round to taking some pictures of my TS 55 REBQ in my CMS TS 55 unit. As far as I can tell everything fits and works perfectly, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

Also there is one part that I don't know the function of. It only shows up in the CMS TS 55 parts diagram and it's called " Splitting wedge barricade." Does anyone know what it's for?

How do you have the riving knife attached? In the TS55 module, the riving knife replaces the one in the saw. In the TS55R module, it is an addition to the existing riving knife.

I know you think everything fits and works perfectly, but you are mistaken. Some parts are definitely different. Does your depth adjustment work correctly, because those two parts are different on the two modules too due to the differing designs of the saws.

Thanks for the info and the pictures! I had only made a few test cuts with it so far and hadn't bothered with the riving knife. I did however find the riving knife that came with it replaces the entire riving knife, where the new one fits on top of the riving knife already in the saw. I figured this was indeed probably specificly designed for the TS55REBQ so I went ahead and ordered the part. It came with a little document suggesting you can also replace the entire riving knife in the old ts55 for the new design to work with the cms ts 55r.

I'm gonna do some more research on the heigh adjustment part. If it turns out it just gives a false height adjustment readout I'm fine with it, I'll just measure it above the table. If it there's more to to it I'll just have to order that part aswell. Bit of a bummer because now my 2nd hand CMS TS55 module isn't such a steal anymore Oh well, tough luck...
