Color of the year

The lack of Festools in the video is a massive oversight [wink]

Here in Holland, lime green is an incredibly popular colour for home accessories right now, stores are full of it.

[size=13pt]Yep, as one who spent many days this year mixing customers paint choices, the popular were - USA Chalk or Antique White, then Charcoal  Greys [Exterior] and then Greens; many Greens  within a whisker either side and corresponding to the colour of the year. Mid shade pinks are also popular.

Must say that I get more excited when a customer chooses a colour, rarher than any number of shades of white to cream!  [eek] I almost know the white formulas off by heart now -  vivid white base, and tint variations of yellow ochre and black!  [doh]

Yeah, I know. Back in the days of our body shop we used to use all kinds of colours, but now that I'm mostly painting houses it's always white, white and white. Sometimes off-white, but that's it. Utterly boring. I'd wish I could paint a house in lime green once, would be fun.

My mom could paint or produce quilts with amazing color combination.  Her eldest son (that would be me) can be oblivious to color.  Often, when i look at a new job site, the first question my wife usually asks when i get home is, "What color is their house?"  Unless it is white or a shocking color, i have no clue. I jut tell her, "If everything is green it is a healthy yard.  If it is all brown, they got problems."

Recently, I had been in the hospital for 2 days when they catheterized my heart.  It was actually, with today's technology, a simple procedure. Just before i passed out from whatever they put into me "to relax me a little" I got a serious pain in my chest. I first thought I was having another heart attack, but decided "these people  know what they are doing."  and just allowed myself to go to sleep. I would either wake up or not wake up. i was not worried.  Sometime  later, i was aware that I was being wheeled on the gurney.  I did not open my eyes until I came to a stop.  I was looking off to the side and I noticed a wall just beyond an open door.  The wall was purple.  The first thought that came into my head was a mortuary.  My first words were, "My God, I died!"

Now, I eventually figured it out that the purple wall was actually the room I had actually been "resting" in for the last two days and I had never noticed the color of that one wall.  All the other three walls were an off white.  Oh well, the nurses were not surprised at my exclamation. I had been joking and telling stories the whole time.  A couple of days later, they all waved bye bye to me as  I was on my way to go home.  My brief heart problem has not improved my color recognition one bit.  8)

I have a couple of different sized notebooks in the workshop in which I sketch design details and do calculations. Needing new ones,  I was excited when I noticed that Leuchtturm1917 have notebooks in a colour very close to Pantone's colour of the year! So I happily paid over the odds for a couple of German-engineered notebooks.

You can imagine my surprise when I got back to the workshop and found how similar the colour was to the detail colour of some of my tools!
