Further to the discussion on quiet compressors, I finally decided on the Senco PC1010. As with the Senco, I examined and listened to several other compressors including the Bostitch CAP1512, the Rolair JC10 and the Samona (Rok) 10925 compressor.

The Rok was quieter than all the rest including the Senco. But when considering the weight factor and the possible need to carry a compressor around, the Senco came out on top for my purposes.

In the weight category, I'd list them as follows:
Senco PC1010 - 20 lbs and considerably smaller than all the rest by at least 50%.
All the rest listed above were floating around 40 lbs. weight or greater in my opinion.

In the quietness category, I'd list them as follows:
Samona (Rok) 10925
Rolair JC10
Senco PC1010
Bostitch CAP1512

I do fully understand that the Senco PC1010 is a niche compressor. It won't drive framing guns and will have to labour a bit on 15g nailers depending on how fast you shoot the nails. But for me as a hobbyist and with my difficulty carrying stuff around, it will be fine for the limited woodworking I might do in my apartment.

I'll be using a 23g Cadex pinner/slightly headed nailer and a Porter Cable 15g finish nailer with the Senco. After I've experimented a bit, I'll report back with an idea of how many nails the Senco PC1010 can drive before it needs to refresh the pressure. The only other addition I might consider down the road is an 18g nail gun, but for now, I'm all set.

You should love it. I bought one in '10 after talking it over with Brice Burrell. Fairly long tank load when using a 23ga pin nailer, not as much for an 18ga nailer. But you already knew that going in. Enjoy, nice unit
