I just received the Festool Belgium newsletter, and they announced the winner of the "festool for life" contest of the roadshow tour.

The price is getting every "new" festool tool for the rest of his life.

I really like the videos of the stuff he comes up with like the multifunction tool cart.

Well done Tim thoroughly deserved.

Was that just for Belgium or is he the winner for the whole of Europe and UK ?

I entered and never heard of a winner.

Congratulations Tim!  That is quite a prize.  May there be many more Festools in your future and may you enjoy every one of them.

Wow, that is some price, must be worth a couple of thousand of euros each year. But I'm sure Tim deserves it, some of his projects are truly outstanding.

Gefeliciteerd Tim, het is je van harte gegund!

I must have missed this one because I wasn't aware of the giveaway or I would have publicized it here for our Euro-members.

Congrats, Tim!!! Sweet win.

Shane

So had he missed out on all the "new" festool tools ( ex protools)?

That would be big boost in tool collection if he gets all the new festool (protool) tools!

Congrats Tim!

Seeing this post earlier today reminded me to pick up his plans for the MFTC and Sysport.  I also found this video that I had completely forgotten about.  I tripped over it the day I got my OF1400.

Thanks guys, i got a mail from the USA congratulating me so i asked where he got the news, so here i am!

I am obviously happy with the prize and it will take some time to realize what it really means. But i don't actually get every new tool for life, that would be crazy!
I can only ever select one tool per category, by example one vac, one drill, one router etc... once i chose a tool from a certain category i can never get one from that category again.
So far i think there are 18 categories, and the choice is also limited to new tools from 2013 on. By example i cannot ask for a kapex since it's not new, or ask for a router since there are no new ones. So most of the categories are closed atm.
There is a big bunch of new tools this year though from the protool range, half of them i only have a vague clue about what they are used for...

I may be tempted by one of the percussion 18v drills, but for the rest there is nothing that i currently could use. I will be building my wooden house next year, so some of you may be helpful in choosing the right tools that could come in handy. the temptation is there to just takes the biggest most expensive, but it's not always the most suited.

In any case a big thank to Festool Belgium, i had actually forgotten about the contest, it took place in march 2013 i think, i even posted pics of the event here as they showed a few new tools. Not sure if i really deserve it, and even if i did that still wouldn't be a reason for me to win. So i can only hope for the other participants it was luck!

[thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

That's a prize that justifies a bit of envy/

Well done!

Tim,

Do you know if they pick a winner from every country if so we here in the UK can still wait in anticipation. I've never heard of a winner being picked here.

The roadshow seems so long ago now.

Maybe Shane can find out.

I have no idea, until your comment i wasn't aware this was also held in other countries. When they called me i asked how many bulletins there were, they didn't exactly know but if it was European i think they would have told me.

Joiner1970, the link in Frank-Jan's first post mentions it was a contest for people who attended the Belgian road show tour 2013. So probably not in other countries.

Tim, something I think we're probably all curious after, what was actually your winning entry?

Alex,

Yeah I know I did spot that but as it was a European tour I thought maybe he was picked as the one winner.

Fingers crossed then :)

All you had to do at the UK road show was answer a survey and leave your details. To win festool for life.

Actually i don't recall, i think you simply had to register and be present at a roadshow. I simply went to my local show and had a nice time as there was free drinks and fries!
I know a few ones who went to several shows to get more chances, the roadshow with the most participants would also see their participant names doubled in the ballot. I don't think the one i went to was the most populated one though we had a warm sunny day, the days after they had snow and rain!

Tim, congratulations- I'm really pleased for you. You deserve it for all the creative ideas you have developed and for improving the Festool user's experience.

I think I was amongst the first- if not the first on the FOG- buyers of your MFTC plans which is a great invention and I am really glad Festool recognized you for it in some way.

Enjoy the new tools
Richard.

Because you already have a T15+3, I think I would choose the corded version of the percussion (hammer) drill (PD 20/4). It would be the best complement for your existing cordless drill. The T15 will have most of the functionality for remote work where a battery is good, but the PD 20/4 will give you loads of power and some additional flexibility beyond that. Plus of course the hammer-mode will come in handy when you need to drill into masonry.

If it isn't clear from the main Festool website, these are hammer drills, not impact drills. So you use the hammer mode only for drilling masonry/concrete.
