Connect new Track to used Track

Hello! I have been using my 55" track for a while and just purchased the 75" track and connector rods. The salesman explained a somewhat detailed process to align the new track to my existing track since the edge guide is already shaved by my saw. Is there a specific process to connect the new 75" to the used 55", or should I just connect them and start cutting?

Thanks in advance!

It should be no problem at all. Just attach/align and go at it. The splinterguard strip that is un-cut on the new track will get trimmed to match and be as repeatable as your alignment method.

Adjusting multiple saws to the same track is a different, be completely possible thing.

No need to join the tracks for initial use of the new track. Just place the new track on the edge of the table so the strip is off the edge. Place the saw on the new track and cut the strip. Done.

Right, though I always use a second track joined before the one trimmed when trimmng a fresh anti-splinter strip. The second track supports the saw at the begining to avoid undercutting of the strip with an unsupported saw.

The only one of mine that is actually cut all the way to the end, of the starting end, is the 1080. Even then, it's only trimmed because it has been the second one in line, connected to the 1400.
I cut the longer rails by starting the saw with the base plate fully on the rail and plunging into the strip.
My 1400 has the hose guide thing on it, so there is no starting off the end.
