I've ordered 8 corner connectors for a bed project.

I would appreciate input from those who have used the connectors.

How accurate must the mortises be?

Normal? What kind of accuracy continuum are you hoping to find an answer put in terms of? Watch the videos.

This.

You need the same accuracy as for normal dominos on the small mortice settings. Follow the manual for what to set the machine to and as long as you keep the cursor on your pencil line it can't really go wrong. Just keep in mind that the Expansion Anchor is single-use (as it expands and can't be removed) so doing a test with scraps isn't a good idea (unless you have spares).

With normal Domino jointing using glue and wooden dominos there is an element of wiggle room that should allow up to 1 mm of adjustment. The glue will easily take care of the minor tensions that might be caused by making that adjustment.

With the connector system I would recommend that you take the time to carefully mark up the centre lines for each cut with the Domino. Read the instructions for the connector system carefully - they are not complicated but you do have to remember to adjust the depth of cuts. There are plenty of videos around which will also give you a good insight into this form of joinery.

Take your time when doing the cuts and do not make the mistake of plunging too fast as this can affect the accuracy of the joint.

Good luck.

Peter.

Thanks for the input. I really enjoy your videos and I have watched yours on the connector.

I can't find any printed or online instructions for the connector. I'm one of those odd men who actually studies the instructions. I've ordered a set of 4 connectors, but do not expect any instructions to be in the package. Do you have a link to the instructions?

P.S. I did a test using the middle flip out and the results were great. I used the flip out to register the first mortise away from the board edge. I used the same flip out to register the second mortise away from the first mortise.

I am not sure what packs of connectors include the one page paper instruction which I know to be excellent.

However, here is a link to the complete manual and the instructions start at about Page 61:
