To our members outside of the U.S. and Canada, I genuinely wanted to have our contests available to everyone.  However, due to legal issues and logistical concerns, we are unable to do so.  If Festool representatives from other countries become active on the forum at some point then that may change.  As an employee of Festool USA, I can not offer a tool as a prize that may not meet the power requirements in other countries.  Also, the complexity of laws as they pertain to contests vary significantly throughout the world making it difficult, if not impossible, for us to administer.  Likewise, there are promotions available from Festool in other countries that are not available in the U.S. and Canada.  I understand your frustrations for not being able to participate but please understand it from our perspective.

Thank you,
Shane

That's ok Shane, I think most of us appreciate this.  A shame there isn't more of a presence from Festool on this side of the pond, but maybe that'll change with time.

Yea, don't worry about it Shane.  It does seem a bit of a poor show on the UK side that no dealers participate on the Fog like in the US & Canada.
But, then again, we do seem to get more stuff than you guys & generally get the tools long before as well.

Shane, as I said in the other thread, I thnk that you have organized what will be a great contest.

But, it really is too bad that this cannot be worldwide.  I did read what you wrote above but I do not accept it.

I am certain that Festool USA could make inter-company arrangements to have a tool delivered in another country.  I have worked in more than big international company and in more than one country so I know of what I speak.  Where there is a will to do something like this, there is always a way.

Festool is worldwide, our membership is worldwide, and the contest should be worldwide.

I told the guys from Festool France about the FOG and gave them the web address, but I have no idea if they have had a look.  The language may be a barrier.  My favourite local Festool dealer doesn't seem to have any internet contact at all yet - but then France has generally lagged behind due to its historic investment in the telecoms computer system called Minitel.  It does seem to be catching up now though

Maybe Festool head office in Germany could get everyone interested?

I've seen many ways for profit and cost sharing to occur, in multi nationals, and don't know Festool's model.

I'm very glad this forum exists, I get a lot a from it with or without competitions... It's one of the reasons I found it easy to persuade myself to buy Festool.
So I guess marketing-wise Festool UK already "owe" Festool USA something for sponsoring FOG.

Legal & logistics wise - there are a lot of non-powered items I'd be very happy to receive... don't let the electricity supply stop you!

Not sure I'm up for this one anyway, but the kudos of winning an "honourable mention" and no goodies  :( wouldn't be bad.
