Continuous extension wings-what are my options?

So it's a forgone conclusion that getting a Sawhelper is out of the question, unless I get a lucky deal. And although I am in LOVE with the Kapex, buying and the stand and wings all at once is not in the cards for a while. I really want something like what the Kapex and Sawhelper offer, without having to build something out of wood thats tough to store and cumbersome. Cutting lots of crown this weekend has me longing for the ability to make a homemade crown stop, but I have nothing to clamp to on my crappy Ryobi portable stand!

Would love the flat surface of the wings, stops, measurement capabilities. Is there a product outside of having to buy a Kapex with a UG I am missing? Or has anyone figured out how to get the UG stand/wings to work with other saws?  :o

I like the portability of the Ryobi, and the fact I can fold it up, otherwise it's useless for anything but framing, and building decks. I need something that will allow me to perform better when I do finish work-which I am doing alot more of now.

Appreciate the advice!

The interesting thing is, the Best Fence V2 looks alot like the Ryobi stand I have. Gotta wonder if there is a way to retrofit those wings.

I can't vouch for it personally, but I've been impressed from videos and user reviews of the new Fastcap Best Fence V2.  They have several versions, including a special mounting brackets for the Kapex.  Here's a link to the website: http://www.fastcap.com/estore/pc/Best-Fence-V2-p43324.htm.

I gotta be honest, I can't find alot of user reviews on the FC Best Fence..Looks nice, some parts look a little cloodgy, and a little pricey for what it is. Hate to commit to it and disccover something sucks about it and have to return it since it's so large. Sigh...Would love the KApex with the wings and UG, just can't justify the cost of all that. I really want extension wings, and wondering if anyone can vouch (via experience with the product) for the quality of the Best Fence.

Dave Reinhold has experience with their stuff and there are some of his posts on FOG that shows some set-ups.  I debated the same thing when I got my Kapex and in the end decided to get the extension wings and the Kapex MFT.  It ended up being a little more than some other options, but I wanted everything to work together and thought it was worth it.  I did not need the mobility of the cart and so the table was the perfect option for me and I really like the Kapex MFT for all kinds of things when not using it with my saw.  FWIW I also built a pair of wooden extensions that are wider, but returned the Kreg Fence I had originally planned to use and went with the UG wings instead.  I still have the wooden wings I made but have not used them since getting the UG wings.  If I do use the wings I will make a simple plywood fence and stop for repeat cuts.

Take a look at the jlc thread.  Even the president of fastcap gets involved in the discission.

Thanks, I saw this one..I think is is referencing the original and not the v2. I saw that Paul responded, which is nice I suppose, although he is a marketing Maven, and uses the word "amazing" far too often for a guy trying to sell me something. FC is a good company, stand behind the products they sell, and this fence system is FAR cheaper than the Kapex set up. And I can always add a Kapex to it!

Also, for the money, I wonder how well the Kapex wings can hold up to framing and deck building projects. The Best Fence looks a little thicker, more supports, and more durable for those types of projects.

Thanks Scott..My first preference is what you have. Eventually I want to pick up a Kapex, but for now need to find something that works for the saw I have. If I could retrofit the Festool wings I would!! Wheres Dave Reinhold when you need him!

Got it...I thought you had a Kapex and were thinking about what fence system.  Here are a couple of things I found on the Best Fence that you might want to read if you have not already done a search:

Thanks...Those Festool wings look thin for a deck job or framing etc..Anyone come up with a solution for the metric tape measures on the Festool wings? Is there a way to get it to Imperial?
