Controlled depth with Kapex KS120

I have a 90x45mm piece of timber that I wish to cut a rebate 20mm deep x 70mm wide in to each 45mm edge by doing several cuts.

Can anyone please advise how I can do this cut on my new Kapex KS 120 saw?

On the Makita LS1212 there is an adjustable screw that controls the depth of cut. I cannot find anything like this on the Kapex.

The depth control device on the Kapex seems to only work for thicknesses of 40mm or less, and doesn't appear to work on a piece of timber on edge 90mm high.

Please correct me if I am wrong, and advise of any way I can work around this problem .

Thats what I hate about the Kapex its a very annoying but the kapex wont do very large depth stop.   The Kapex has little Green stick like which can be moved up and down for when you need it or dont need it in use and simply turning it you can adjust the height  BUT like you found out the height is limited  to a very small height.

Same as you I also own the Large Makita saw and I can do much large depth stops.    

I never thought about it untill like you I had a timber 75mm thick and wanted to do a 15mm depth cut and I couldnt I had to get my makita out and do it.  

The problem is if you was to make the thread longer on the Kapex it gets in the way of the kapex movement.  I have had a look my self to see if I can modify it some how but it cant be any longer than what it is.

Its how festool have designed it and because they try and keep everything as compact as possible its restricted the amount of depth stop you can do.

I did mitre pond a small piece of plastic to see   just to do a tester and I soon realised if you add something it hits a part on the kapex when you plunge the saw up and down.  

Im sure their might be a way but its a long time ago since I had a look at it I just took it as thats how it has to be plus only just bought the kapex at the time so didnt want to do anything really.  Ill have a look to day again just to see.
