I am looking to get a Conturo edgebander, but one of the biggest issues will be if it can be used with non glue backed wood edge banding.  Most of my projects are wood construction with a stain and poly finish not melamines or plastic  finishes.  Most of the youtube videos I see show it applying plastic or melamine type edge banding.  Can it be used with wood??

Yes it can .. you need to watch MORE videos [wink] [big grin]

It works very well on wood up to 2 mm. It will run 3 mm of some species with straight grain.

One thing I have learned with the 3 mm PVC, placing the edge banding in a warm oven (130-140º F.) makes it a lot easier to install.

I just used it with 1mm walnut veneer, no issues. Festool USA says best not over 1mm with wood because of potential cracking
I will try with 1.5 mm cherry soon, all veneers.  I think it depends on if you use solid wood or veneers.  The veneer I used looks great.
