Cordless deal is hardly a deal at all

Just been looking at the latest festool promotion in the UK. Basically buy a cordless tool with batteries then buy a second tool without batteries and get two free batteries, but their is isn't much difference over buying two tools with batteries , or am I not understanding it properly.

Good I'm glad someone else spotted that.

I went to the roadshow last week and talked to the owner of d&m tools and he made out to me that he was one of only 3 dealers actually doing that deal. He said that he thought festool had dropped a clanger and it was an amazing deal. When I got home and checked it wasn't a good deal at all.

I'm think I found that it was only another £50 to buy a complete tool with two batteries. So you're only saving £50 which you could probably save by buying at a cheaper dealer elsewhere anyway.

Yeah its a rubbish deal for sure. Having said that are there cheeper dealers than dm they have really annoyed me recently so would rather buy from elsewhere but they seem the cheepest...

Yeah loads , I only use them sometimes as they're local to me, but I've never bought any festool from them. Nuts & bolts, toolfest, ffx are all cheaper with better service

N&b new sds basic £312

£37 cheaper which almost wipes out the free battery deal as the full sds set is only £362 at n&b.

I promised my dealer that I would not reveal actual sale prices, but I will say that the deal was a significant savings over the regular pricing.

I just purchased a TSC55 XL with two batteries and a PDC and BHC Basic versions that included a bonus of two 4.2amp batteries each for far less than it would have cost me to buy the standard or plus versions of the same drills.

I'm a happy camper, and I think Festool IS offering a pretty good deal.

This "deal" is pretty common here in the States, also. 

I use a bunch of Makita cordless stuff.  I can buy a battery for $99.  Or, I can get the cordless drill, cordless impact driver, 2 batteries and a charger for $239.  So, $40 for a drill, driver, and charger.

I never buy just a battery.  Of course, I have a dozen or so drills now...

Must say I've bought Festool from a fair few places and hands down N&B have been spot on every time.

FFX are also good suppliers, but my go to Festool dealer is now N&B as they go the extra mile.

Frank I don't see it that way not here on the UK anyway.

As I say they're making a big thing out of the deal where you get 2 free batteries but really you don't because the full set with two batteries is only slightly more than the basic one anyway. I think that's what the OP thought too.

The deal in Europe is basically a flat 120€ discount on the second, third etc. tools Plus-version. Its identical in Finland and Germany at least and equally miscommunicated by Festool in both countries.

I shopped around and managed to squeeze a good price for a PDC XL Set + TSC55 Basic so I ordered them anyway.

Not as stellar if you really got two extra batteries thrown in with a purchase of two tools which would be of value of 300€ vs. the calculated 120€ discount.

Well at n&b the combo prices are more than the plus prices. For so e reason they charge more doing the combo deals. I cant see the point of having a load of batteries with 1 charger

When I first read this promotion I thought I would be saving the cost of two batteries about £300, but it only works out about £50 or if you shop around nothing at all. Not really a promotion Festool.

I believe the BASIC sets come with charger and Systainer, but no battery.

But to add my voice, not really much of a deal, at least in the UK...
