Corn Hole Boards & Plaque

I figured I would post a couple of my little projects since I have not done that yet.

Below is a picture of a set of cornhole boards that was made up of solid Walnut and Cherry 3/4" thick.  The boards are about 24" x 48".  This was the only pic I had so you cannot not see the sides.  The sides where 3/4" x 4" solid cherry and same with the legs.

The other picture is a plaque that I made for a retiring Fire Chief.  It's actually made of solid poplar.  I dipped a tooth brush into stain and ran my finger across the bristles so the stain would kinda "flick" off the tooth brush creating a consistant pattern.  All the plaques were in-layed on this piece.
 
Nice! I have a friend wanting me to make him a cornhole board. I was like what the hell is a cornhole board, and now I know! Nice plaque too. How did you do the numbers at the top. I assume a router, or laser engraver.

Care to enlighten the rest of us? I've never heard of these before (maybe it's an American thing?).
