Thermometer showed 105 in my truck!  But i was very lucky today.I had to go to a remodel job and do some crown molding and shoe molding. Good thing that i have a Kapex with my vac!  Set up inside the house with nice cool AC!!!!
2 days ago,was working in a new construction  house and when i was upstairs doing the bathrooms, couple of time, felt like i was going to pass out.

Bring a fan with you.  The electric kind, not the groupie.

Ken,

The problem with a fan is that you spend more time moving the damn thing around than you do working.  Especially if you're bouncing from room to room installing cabs...

Over the weekend I thought I bought way more Gatorade than I would need for the week, I was wrong.  I don't know how you guys down south do this all summer long.

In this kind of heat, you should be refreshing with water. Gatorade for all its benefit when playing sports, has sugar and salt in it.

Oh I drink plenty of water, 160oz of water and 96oz of Gatorade at work today.

Me, I've been doing some yardwork in FL.  Hot as hell.  Wait for a big cloud to cover the sun and its not half bad... at least for a while.

Here we go on Long Island, 9:20 and Heat at 90, Heat index at 100 , Humidity at 76, DewPoint 78, air quality alerts.
This is really not fun anymore, today is not a day to be working outside in the boatyard on peoples boats for sure.

Oh well

Long Island in the summer..... no thanks.  I have inlaws there and really don't like the LI summer weather. At least they put in AC a few years ago, but before that  [blink]

At the beginning of the week here in the Twin Cities, MN we had a DP (Dew Point) of 81 degrees heat index was 130.  I like heat and grew up in 90 degrees and 90% humidity....but dang it pushed me. On the 15th of the month (last Friday) we had 6.5" of rain coming down at 1.8" an hour. The lightning was frequent and close. I have been working with homeowners in my neighborhood to fix things.  One house had 1.5 tons of soil washed away.

When I got to their house... (I'm more into remodeling but)...they are good clients and needed help. The heat index was almost 130. I was able to extend their downspout drainage from the first backyard terrace over the second terrace to the third terrace and replace the soil. I like heat...but WOW even with water on site... it was tough.

I sent them my bill.... They doubled it with a tip...

The heat must have gone to their head.

Cheers,
Steve

I've been watching a couple different crews doing complete tear offs on roofs this week and I just am amazed at the bosses that will subject their employees to such brutal conditions. 100 plus and heat index 125 to 130  Working in the morning till 10 or 11 then coming back later in evening might make more sense, but all through the day just to get it done is just unbelievably stupid.  I surely hope that any of you festooler employers are smart enough to take care of your employees.

The 100+ air temps last week finally got the water temperature up in our pool to over 90F.  I wents out to swim one night at about 11PM, and when I got out I felt a bit "chilled" because the air temp was down to the low 90's!

I'm ready for Fall!

I live in Houston, Tx so I am ready for fall every year after spring ends.

I wish I could skip summer  ;D

It's still too hot for my tastes!  Working in my west facing shop/garage yesterday in the early evening I finally beat a hasty retreat to the AC in the house at 95 degrees (in the shade).  When I remodeled the garage I insulated the place, including the door.  Of course insulation works both ways, and on opening the garage at 7:00 am today the temperature inside was over 80 degrees, in contrast to outside in the mid sixties.  I know, we all complain about the weather but don't do nothing about it.

For me the challenge is to find the right time to work inthe shop, usually it's too cold in he winter (I have infarred heaters and long underwear) or too hot in the summer (a ceiling mounted fan and shorts).  Still, it's the only place to play/work with my Festools.  [big grin]

Let's see.  105 today and tomorrow and the day after and the day after and the day after.... you get my point.  We will probably break the record for 100 degrees days which currently stands at 69 days.  I haven't even thought about doing any woodworking all summer, it's over 100 at ten in the evening and the low's at night are in the mid 80's.  This is the worst summer in 30 years.  my wife thinks I'm crazy for playing golf on he weekends but I usually go out at 7:30 and I'm done by noon.  Not too bad.  It's usually around 98 or so by then.  It will probably be the end of September before it gets below 95 during the day so I'll have to wait until then to start any projects.  I did get a nice PC 18 gauge 2" pin nailer but it's been too hot to even play with it.  Just miserable.  Texas just sucks in the summer.  650 miles in any direction to get away from it.

Unusually cold here on the central coast of California. We should be seeing temps approaching 110, instead we've been in the 80s all summer. Except for one week in July when we hit 106 (early)

Maybe this help our housing slump?

Yea, know how you guys feel.  We had a few days this summer where it his 20 deg c (68 f), roasting man  [big grin]  Was on a roof yesterday & it was 16 deg, t shirt weather for sure  [thumbs up]
