cs70 blade guide problem

Hi, I am new in here and also new with Festool. I just bought a Festool cs70 table saw and have unboxed it today.
I have a problem with the "blade guide". I am talking about the metal plate with the hole on top that sits just behind the saw blade.
When I elevate the saw blade uppwards it follows equally, but it is in some sort of a parking position for transport.
It is supposed to be lifted up (maybe 1 inch) before I mount the dust extractor/cover unit. The user manual simply tells me to pull it up.
However it will not move.
Have I missed a detail here? Is there a button to push or a screw to loosen before it can be moved upwards?

Thanks for helping :-)

not sure what is meant by blade guide.
The plate on the bed is removable............underneath one end slide into the frame and the other as a retaining plate with an tensioning nut ( plastic) just slacken and push plate towards opposite end, from memory you may have to twist plate.mine as fallen off with transporting from site to site.

You're talking about the riving knife. The lower position is meant for cuts not going all the way through, for instance when cutting grooves or rebates, (or cutting material from both sides, if it's higher than 70 mm.)

Anyway, the way I move it up, is by attaching the dusthood first, that way you have a better grip to pull it up. (there are no other actions needed)

can u take a photo?
when i bought my cs 70
i spend 8 h to put all together and trimming to true possitions
it is an awesome machine :)

You can push the riving knife down for hidden cuts and when you store or transport the saw. When you push it down it clicks in place, so when you want to get it up again you have to overcome that force. I can pull mine up by hand without too much effort. Maybe because yours is new it takes a bit more force. I'd suggest inserting a small screwdriver in the hole so you can dose your pulling force gently with two hands to get the feel of it.

Thanks again! Problem solved, by using a screwdriver as "Alex" describes. I actually had to pull really hard, so later I will study the mechanism to see if it is possible to loosen it up a bit. I also see the "riving knife" has a scale on it to measure the height of the blade above the table which is nice.
