Is it worth getting the CSX without the brushless motor or wait until the new C12's are launched?  I really want to get a compact drill for the shop as my Milwaukee M12 is starting to give up the ghost.  Thanks in advance for your advice.

My slippery slope with Festool began 4 months ago with a Rotex 125 sander......man, this festool addiction has it grips on me!

This is tough question.  You can go to a Festool dealer and see if they have the old model C12 and a CXS to demo.  There isn't a huge difference in the feel of the new C12 compared to the old so that should get you a better idea if it's worth the wait.

[welcome]
only you can answer that question.
as brice said , go to a dealer and play with them and see which suits best

I am in a similar boat as you.  I bought the Csx and the T15.  The decision I have to make is do I buy the new C12 and have 3 drills or the CSX will be suficient?

I tried the C12 before and itis  great, but the mightiest little CSX can do a lot, so you will be surprise.
Itis hard to tell, try them both.

I had the same question.  I tried out the CXS and decided that it did 95% of what I wanted in a drill, its cheaper, smaller, lighter and available now vs the C12 so I just pulled the trigger.  I looked at it like this, the quality will be good regardless of brushed or brushless motors, does it do what I need or not?  If it does what you need then the CXS is probably better as its smaller and lighter and cheaper.

i was considering this at first as well. Ya you don't have festool's typical motor on it but it still drives just as smooth and is so light/portable/comfortable I think you'll be more than happy with it.

Thanks all.  I'm not worried about the price, but hand fit and motor longevity are paramount.

Thanks for the warm welcome.....it is great to find a home where I can ask my amateur questions to professionals! ;D

Depending on the battery type, the current C12 may be heavier than the new C12 LiIon.  Take that into consideration when going into the store and holding the C12 and the CXS.

Great point.

I think they'll be some very subtle ergonomic redesigns, etc.  I have NOT seen or held one, just taking a shot int he dark.

I can say that I really like the CXS, it has the power I didn't expect and the battery life is exceptional.
I will give the new C12 a look but for me and my cabinet making and installs the CXS has been my new go to cordless...

By the way  [welcome] to Fog , it a great place to be with a great bunch of fellow Festool Goody Lovers..

Personally if I had the extra cash I would go with the new C12, but that is not taking anything away from the CXS. Ive used it only for a few hours now and it really is a fantastic little machine. I'm comparing it now to my first festool drill which was the CDD 12 fx and I can tell you now it fells like I took a trip in the DeLorean 20 years into the future.

GREAT SCOTT!!!

I really love the c-drills.  They are so comfortable and I find I can drive screws much easier with them because of the way you hold the drill.  If I had the option I would get a CXS set ( I absolutely love mine) and Get a c-15 when they come out.  They would make an awesome pair.  I plan on getting a c-15 and centrotec set when they are available, Festool hurry up  [big grin].

I've got cxs and a c15. Had the cxs first and very impressed at what it can do for a lightweight. I don't think the battery  life is great though. I love it for kitchen installs, you hardly notice it hanging from your belt. I got the c15 because my makita packed up and i needed a drill which could manage hole cutters. the angle chuck is in a class of its own, i've tried many different kinds over the years and this far outperforms any drill attachment. I couldn't do without either drill, both have there place. C15 more powerful cxs light and does get into places where the c15 can't.
Go for either one first and add the other when funds allow.
You won't regret!!!
