Still new to Festool acquisition so I was not prepared for a new driver.    However . . . .

We bought our granddaughter a doll house for Christmas.  A biggie.  It needed assembly, but would not fit in my son's car when he drove off to NJ with our grandchildren, so he had to drive home and assemble it for her.  I smiled warmly and snickered at my son's future as they headed out.  Through a cruel trick of the gods my son had to suddenly leave the country on business, so Grandpa was called and required to make the long drive to NJ and assemble the dollhouse.    Never have I seen so many many pieces.  There were gazillions of little tiny screws, all required to accomplish "some assembly required."

After about two hours of turning screws by hand I knew I'd never make it so I pulled Festool up on the net, found the nearest dealer, and zipped on over and bought the CSX Li  1.5.  Took the drill/driver back and finished assembling the dollhouse in three hours.  Here's the cool part.  Those tiny screws (all 13 billion of them) had to go into masonite.  I set the driver on the lowest setting and of all those screws only two stripped in that horrible material.  All others snugged up perfectly, and the clutch did its job.

Wanted the CSX but not now.  Nevertheless, when you can acquire a Festool and blame it on the grandchildren Grandma doesn't get on her high horse.  Forgiveness is much easier to acquire. ;D    Meanwhile I now have a drill/driver for furniture assembly that is more predictable and easier to use than my beloved Makita 18v.  The Makita is great but shines in construction.  In the shop, not so much.  Now I don't know if the CSX Li 1.5 is the newest version with the tricked out motor, but I've used it prolly ten hours on other jobs since returning home.  What a delight to use.  Great clutch.  I bought the kit that has extra batteries, lets you shoot bullets around corners . . . .  you know the one.

Anyway,  props to Festool for saving Grandpa's butt.    Worth every dime !    If you're tinkering with the notion  of buying one, go ahead and pull the trigger.  IMHO.

Just think in several years, granddaughter will be borrowing your Festools for her construction projects [wink]
