With a charged battery (have tried both), whether drilling or driving, I only get a burst of power then nothing.  Retrigger and get same result.

Is the tool new -- or did this problem just start happening?

I bought it a few months ago.  It worked without this happening until a week ago.

Most likely, you'll want to send it in for repair.

The only possibility that we can think of is that the speed is set between 1 and 2. Make sure that it's not sitting somewhere in between the two numbers. If that's not it, initiate a repair athttps://www.festoolusa.com/account/repair/.

How much of the kit needs to be returned for repair?  Entire purchase (incl. systainer) or just the drill itself (no chuck, no battery).  Thanks.

You just need to send in the core tool. You only need to send chucks, batteries, etc. if you're also having issues with them.
