I have a CSX from 2011 with the 1.3 batteries. They don’t hold charge very well now and I was going to buy replacement batteries. I was at the tool house and they had the 2.6 set, so I said I would get the set and then try to recover some of my purchase price by selling the old set. I charged the battery and it brings the old drill to life. The new csx isn’t as smooth as the old. The new version almost sounds like something is grinding in it on a very small level. I looked at the display today at a different store and it is similar, so I think it is just how they make them now.  Now I almost wish I had just bought batteries and looked to see if Festool sold the new systainer insert.  I bet I’ll add another 2.6 battery and keep old csx also

Agree with Bert, my fairly new CXS had some noise at start, much less now.
I did a “run in” of the brushes leaving the drill on at lowest speed in 1. gear for more than half an hour, with no load on the table. There was less noise after from the brushes. Gears do break in too.

If a sale of your old CXS brings little money, or if you don’t really need the money it brings, it’s a good idea to keep it. Using two drills with different attachments is relieving, even better when they are exact same when rapid shifting. Not to mention, putting one dedicated in a tool box.

Yep, had the same thing with my T15, the gears were very audible in the beginning, and that bothered me a bit, but I assumed it would go away with use and it did.

But now after 10 years I start hearing the gears again, and now it bothers me more than a bit, but hey, what do you do about it ....  [sad]

They’ll have to pry my two CXS's from my dead hands — that’s how much I love ’m (older models).

ive not used my csx for a while now. its getting on now like. must be 6 or 7 years old.

its burning out like. it smells like a toy train set when it runs. and the batteries are shot too.

i guess ill have to have a try of the newer ones before i go for one like
