ct 22 cord storage modification

ever since i bought the ct22 dust extractor about 5 yrs ago the standard cord storage hooks have bothered me. they are undersized and i would have a problem winding the cord around them. i contemplated buying another handle and just use the plastic pieces and some new hooks as i saw on corwin's post but the cost would be prohibitive. well this is what i came up with, maybe a little overkill but it works for me. about $15 in plumbing parts at homo despot.

Don't get me wrong... on the whole I like my CT-22's (I have two of them) but the totally inadequate cord storage hooks bugs me...  Yes I have heard all about how UL wanted a larger size cord then supplied in Europe.  But how hard would it been for Festool USA to correct this?  Instead it is much easier to ignore this.... But day after day, year after year they send out new CT-22/33's with the same uncorrected problem.  I use these CT-22's every day.  I constantly frustrated by the cord falling off...  Yes I could jury rig something... But "WHY" the Hell should I on a $400 vacuum?

The lack of availability of a "plug-it" cord for older models is another pet peeve ....  again something I use and I am frustrated by every single day.....  Again it is much easier to ignore this....

Yes Festool USA is monitoring the FOG...  But are you listening?  These subjects come up monthly....  It seems to me that no one in Festool USA "uses the tools..."  If they did they would "know" there is a problem.  They only sell them.

Don't get me wrong I am one of Festools biggest fans... I own at least one of almost every tool they offer in the USA.  But as my Grandmother used to say "It's no use to lay a nice white egg if your going to shit all over it..."

ned i used 1-1/4" plastic waterpipe about 9" long as spacers on the handle. i used bushings for them that i sanded down on my spindle sander to make them tight on the handle. then i just used 1-1/4 tee's with bushings to reduce them to 3/4' pipe across and tee's and elbows to make the hooks.hope that explains it, if not i can take more pics.

I've gotta say, if the biggest thing we're complaining about is the cord storage then everyone has to admit that it's a pretty darn good product.

Hi,

    So you are using one Festool handle and the original CT cord wraps. You just added the upper pvc cord wraps?  Or did you make the entire handle?

Why go through all that trouble when you can just wrap it around the handle?? thats what I do.
I'll give you the "A" for effort!
