CT 22 rear wheel bracket broke, what are my options?

My rear wheel came off yesterday, I figured no big deal as it seemed to be intact and I just snapped it back on (yes, it made a satisfying click), but when it came off again a few feet later as I was pulling it along I took a closer look and noticed that the plastic slot on the vacuum housing that the wheel is attached to had a piece broken off on one side.

Is it time to make my own dolly or somehow mount it to a Festool SYS-Cart?

I was going to suggest purchasing a new tub but at $189...that's probably not the best option.  [smile]

How about adding some type of sheet metal/aluminum support structure or use plastic & epoxy to reinforce the area.

Ordering a new tub seems a bit much given cost comparison to a new Vac. I would figure out some way to make a bracket for the slot side to keep the wheel on or drill through the bracket for a couple bolts to hold it on.
I've ordered multiple plastic parts including wheels and a tub to keep my 22 going. Motor is fine, works great but the body is a bit fragile these days. Just don't want to get rid of it. I have 2 other vacs so the 22 doesn't move around much anymore. It is great as a mostly stationary vac now. Won't really handle the rigors of a job site anymore.

Same thing happened to mine. The price is obscene but I paid the money and moved on. Was easy to replace. New vacuum cost was not palatable versus the repair. There are some other wheel related parts that you might need depending on what broke.

I checked out the price of a replacement container for several of the models, most of them are in the $90-$100 range, only found one other that was close to the $190 that they want for the CT22 one, and that was for the CT48 ($160.xx), a much larger model. Maybe the price increases as the supply decreases!

At any rate, not spending 40% of what a new vac would cost me to fix a 15-20yr old unit. First attempt is construction adhesive, just glued it up and will know more tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll somehow attach it to the SYS-cart or build my own little dolly for it. Worst case it'll become stationary in my shop and I'll buy a new one.

Are the new models designed any better? The CT25 looks like the best value one at $485, not sure what all the CT26 buys you for the additional $300+. Cordless sounds appealing but costs more and is down in power and capacity vs most of the corded models. Probably better to create a new thread if and when the time comes.

If the wheel keeps popping off, making your own dolly could be a good project. Mounting it to a Festool SYS-Cart might be quicker if you can reinforce the connection.
