Currently I am looking at adding another Festool vacuum in my workshop.  My CT 26E is set up with a boom arm.  I am looking at purchasing a Festool Midi for my Kapex 120 (240 V - Australia)  The vacuum has a sticker on the power supply stating 'Max 1200W'.  This is less than the rating on the Kapex's 1600 W.  I have used the Kapex with the CT 26 and theres been no problem.  Is the 'Max 1200W' relevant?

Michael    Presently I am using my midi with a Clear Vue Cyclone and a 35 MM hose on my Midi and my Kapex setup.
I have had no problems at all with staring, running and working with this setup

Thanks Sal for your reply.  I checked out a Festool Midi and spoke to my main supplier.  The shop demo unit had the 'max 1200W' sticker.  I could not get any explanation for this 'low rating' .  It looks to be just one of those things...

Hi

I think you have got the numbers mixed up.  ;)

Power consumption 400-1200 W

Maximum wattage of connected tool 2400 W

This is from festools site for the MIDI

Thanks festoolviking for clarifying this.
I have been given an acceptable price for a Festool Midi.  Looks like more green in my workshop!!

No worries mate  [smile]

One thing to consider is that you actually run two "tools" on the same socket/fuse with a maximum wattage of 3600W. So you should actually have a 16A fuse on that circuit (3840W). I currently run my MIDI and TS55 on a 10amp circuit (in my home shop) and have never had any problems. The thing is that the initial load isn't full on since there is a delay in the start on the vac. In auto-mode. But if you are going to run the kapex and a vac I would make sure it's atleast a 16A fuse.
