CT 33 E Extractor - what is the equivalent L/M/H rating?

Hi all,

I've just inherited a 2004 CT 33 E extractor, and it all seems to be working very well indeed, considering its age. I'm looking to see if it's up to code for site use (in UK) as my understanding is that everything must now be marked with the dust class ratings of Low/L, Medium/M, or High/H, and the minimum permitted on UK worksites for manufactured boards and hardwood cutting is Class M.

The CT 33 E was made before this legislation, I believe, so I was wondering if someone knows:

a) what the equivalent Class rating would be for the CT 33 E?
b) if this is predicated on the HEPA filters
c) If the dust collection bags/filters are still available
d) if any retrofits can be made to bring it up to code for site work, and for my skin/respiratory health in general - ie Class M.

I have very little money and would like to avoid as much harmful dusts as possible, hence the interest in an old 'classic' model in the first place!

Thanks all.

Hi, your CT 33 E is equivalent to the L class, the lowest.

M class requires a module that has an airflow detector with an alarm that goes off if the airflow gets too low.

Sorry, but your old vac can not be upgraded to the M class, too many parts are different.

Bags and filters for this vac are still available in NL and DE, but with your Brexit situation they're probably less easy to find in the UK.

Must be a a pre 2005 (?) one then. Post that and they would have an L-class sticker.

Thanks all, very useful; that's a shame but glad I know now!
I've a smaller M Class HEPA stationary workshop vac which'll do the job otherwise.

All the best
T
