Am new to this site.
I can have a ct 33e or a ct36e.  Both basically new.
What are the pros and cons of each?
Which one would I keep and why?
Does one filter down to smaller particles than the other?
Thanks much for any advice?

Hi,

The 36 will have  more capacity, and probably a little more than just the difference in the size (3 liters) because of the way the bag gets filled. Also it will maintain suction a little better when collecting fine dust because the bag deflates / inflates each time the vac is turned on / off. Which has the effect of knocking dust off the inside bag walls. Thus allowing more air flow through the bag.

The 36 will have a HEPA filter the 33 may or may not have a HEPA filter. To check see what color the filter is in the 33. Yellow  is regular , White is HEPA.

Though the 36 technically has a bit more suction the 33 has plenty, and noticeably more than most shop vacs.

The 36 has a built in hose storage. The 33 may or may not have hose storage it was an add on piece for the 33.

I don't think you would be disappointed either way.

I think I am correct in saying the 36 is also certified for lead abatement use but the 33 is not, even with the HEPA filtration that became standard the last few years they were sold. Not that the 33 would be bad for lead abatement but Festool wasn't going to go to the trouble and expense of getting a collector certified that they were no longer making.
