I have had my ct36 for a few years now.  I checked the filter yesterday and it definately need to be replaced.  Is ther more than one filter on the ct36.  I could only find the one.

Good Morning Rondon,

I am not a Festool employee, however I am a representative of The Tool Nut, which operates Festoolproducts.com.

JD2720 is correct.

You also have the additional option of a Wet Filter Element - 496169!

Whats the difference between part numbers 498994 and the 496171?

Good Morning Droc7683,

496171 is not a valid part number, so I will answer the question assuming you were referring to the 496170.

498994 - HEPA Filter Element: Festool's highest standard for filtration. Filters particles to .3 microns.

496170 - Main Filter Element: Standard 1 micron filter-paper.

If the question is how many filters the CT36 has , then the answer is one. As opposed to the older line of CTs that hade two.

Thanks for that info.  I could only find the one and thought I read somewhere that there were two filters in each CT

You may have read that the bag is the primary filter and the filter is the secondary filter.

I have the CTL26, I use it 80% of the time together with my table saw CS70 cutting only pine and the rest of the time with the Carvex jig saw and the Rotex 150 sander. So far I have only changed the dustbag once, but I noticed that no dust at all, absolutely NO dust had penetrated the dustbag. The interior of the CTL and the secondary filter was 100% clean. I find this absolutely impressive!! In comparison to my other vac Metabo ASR2025 I always find some amount of fine dust in the interior and in the secondary filters, so I always apply pressurized air to clean it when I change the dustbag.
If I ever have to replace the secondary filter, which type of filter do you recommend, the standard 1 micron or the 0.3 micron Hepa filter?
Does the 0.3 micron filter come with any downsides, like less airflow or easier clogging?

NH, I think you pretty well answered that question. You're getting virtually no evidence of visible dust through your bag. More than likely the CT26 came with the HEPA filter, and evidently you're satisfied with its current capabilities, why expose yourself to whatever fine particles the 1 micron filter would miss. Those are the most likely to be breathed in by you. One of the primary purposes for buying FESTOOL Dust Extractors is for a healthier work environment, and it sounds like it's not evidencing any negligible impact on the extractors performance so far.
