Hi guys.

Im contemplating to use my CT 36 at work with Long life bag in it as my CTL Midi lacks 36mm hose. I work 95% of the time with this "lovely" stuff called MDF  [blink] [blink] [blink] and would like to know if by using long life bag, would I ruin it by closing it up with fine dust or would it be ok. I have been told that it is possible to wash them once in a while, is that true. I'm not sure i'd like to shove it in my £950 Miele washing Machine with all that dust  [eek] [blink] [eek] [huh].
In my Midi at work, I tend to reuse bags up to 2 times (3 if using solid timber) before discarding. I empty it by shaking it in front of the sweep box and that way I do not have to stand in the cloud of dust and our main dust extractor for all machines gets emptied in a normal manner when full.

Kind Regards

EV

It's intended for large chips ideally, but I think there are customers who use it for finer dust so I will defer to them for their experiences. It is machine washable.

Thanks Shane. If I was to wash it, then it would only happen at my local laundry mat  [blink] [big grin]

I use mine for everything except sheetrock dust. It's the same primary, 5 micron filter (bag) as the disposable ones. I think the main reason it's not recommended for dust is what happens when a dusty bag is emptied... It goes into the air, which sort of defeats the purpose of collecting it. I only empty mine outside and stand upwind.

So you say it ok for dust creaded by that lovely stuff called MDF?

I use it for MDF & relatives, real wood, various plywood, and plastics. I also use it for shop clean up.

The one thing I try to do is empty it before I pick up something, like plastic, that won't compost. I usually empty it in the compost pile. When I do plastics, I empty it in the recycling bin.

How often would you wash it?

I've never washed it. I just punch it out in the wind.

I had one for my old CT 22 and never washed it either. One of our members has that one. Perhaps he will see this and state his washing schedule, if any.

I wash my clothes even though they will get dirty again, but it never occurred to me to wash something like a filter bag? I'm immediately going to fill it with stuff. Luckily, that doesn't happen with my pants???

Thank you for replying guys.

I use mine for everything as well, sanding included.

The paper filter on the vac itself still looks clean, so the bag seems to be doing a fine job (no pun intended).

I got one for my CT 22 and just ordered one for my CT 26. Never washed, beat or did anything other then empty it and put it back in the Extractor. Mines are shop bound and I use them for all everyday common woodworking apps, sawing, routing, sanding etc with no issues what so ever
