CT Midi doesn't suck... in a bad way

My CT Midi has suddenly lost suction. When I turn it on it has about half the normal full suction and after being on for about a minute the suction drops down to a very low level, not enough to pick up a coughdrop wrapper. I've looked at all the obvious things and everything seems alright, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas before I sent it in for service. I use this thing for work, so I don't like to be without it.

So far I have checked
  • The hoses. All okay.
  • The seal around the top. Okay.
  • The filter. Clean as a whistle.

It sounds like you may have done this, but the easiest place to start is by completely removing the hose, bag, and filter.  Turn the vac on and see how it sucks at the intake.  If it runs great with nothing attached you can add back one piece at a time until you find the culprit.

Thanks. As you said, I've already done that. I guess it's going in for service.

Ever find the culprit?
I have a mini which has about half the suction as well. Clean filter, clean bag, relatively decent hose....
