CT mini hose broke in half

I was putting the hose from my 1 year old CT mini back into the hose garage and it broke in half. Upon contacting Festool warranty they informed me that this isn't a warranty issue as the hose is an accessory. Has anyone seen this before? And were you able to get a replacement?

My smallest Vac is a Midi, but I've never had one of the Anti-Static hoses do that on me ... [eek]

Maybe it froze in the Canadian winter your having?  8)

Was a time when FT would have replaced that even if it strictly wasn't under warranty. That hose barely looks used at all.  I've got some ten years old that look like heck but are still intact.

Oofdaa...I'd wrap that flipping hose around the neck of the Festool rep.  Unless that hose was subjected to liquid nitrogen, there's no reason for its failure.

Not warrantying accessories because they're accessories is such a garbage cop-out.

Replace the guy's defective hose and stop doing this to your customers. JFC.

It's not a warranty issue because the hose is an accessory? What kind of crazy thinking is that? It's an integral part of the tool!

Just one year old, I'd speak to Festool again and see if you can get someone from service to check the hose over for any manufacturering defaults, after all it's in Festools interest for these hoses to last longer than one year. There might be a bad batch of these hoses around.

Was the hose acquired with the extractor?  If so, you could raise that point with them.  Since it was part of the tool purchase, it should be covered.  If they won't work with you, you may need to dig into the consumer laws to see if they are lawfully allowed to exclude part of a purchase from the warranty.  Also look over the warranty paperwork included to see IF they even added wording stating such.

They are definitely letting customer service fall.  I called about a hose garage on my midi that lasted 6mo and they told me that the replacement part is $69 plus shipping.  I had to call 10 times before I could get someone.  All this with the legendary price increases in April.

I suggest to mail presse[member=6061]festool[/member].com (their german public relations department) with the details of your problem, a link to this topic and a polite question about them being aware that their canadian branch (I take this from your locationas reported by the forum) is currently actively destroying their brand or not.

Situations similar to these are why long time Festool fans are leaving the brand. Perhaps this line of thinking about accessories (and not including them in the return period) should be changed.

An accesory? Really. When you purchase a CT dust extractor it comes with a hose. As you cannot use the CT without a hose, wouldn't it make sense that it is part of the tool and not an accessory. Now if you purchase an extra hose, then yes it becomes an accessory. Otherwise it should be considered as part of the tool as the CT will work as designed without it.

Just my 2 cents.

[member=22037]barr.ca[/member] I'll send you a DM about this. As others have pointed out, hoses are considered an accessory, but we'll try to get you taken care of.

Great news, I received a replacement hose from my local dealer, Ultimate Tools, who was a huge help!

Back to the shop!
