Was using 2200 router and 22E vacuum today and router started spewing sawdust.  Router still gets power through 22E but 22E wont start.  It's just under 13 months old and only on its 2nd dust bag so it's had minimal use on weekends.  Couldn't find a reset switch but I don't believe there was any overheating to cause one to activate.  Didn't find many posts on this issue so it must be pretty unusual.  Will contact Festool tomorrow to see what next step is.  Thanks for listening.

Shane, thanks for quick response.  I am not too worried since all I hear about is Festool's great service.  I'll call the 800 # tomorrow.

Dan,

Before you call Festool service in the morning you might want to check your CT22 first.

My CT33 (same motor ) had a near death experience a couple of months where it played dead after it gulped down a whole bunch of renovation debris.

All vital signs seemed absolutely flatlined at the time. (the bag was only half full at the time)

I said to myself, hmmm ok I'll call Festool in the morning and moved over to my other CT22,

Next morning I tried it again and it couldn't wait to charge into the day.

It seems somewhere in the depths of it's being Festool engineers have implanted an "anti-stress override".

Where it just decides to shut down and go into sleep mode until it feels good and ready.

Haven't had any issues since.

I think it's a Zen thing.

Us  Homo sapiens should take note.

I'm sure we would have a lot less heart aliments if we did.

I'm sure liking the "anti-stress override" concept.  Time for a nap by the woodstove...

[big grin]

New bag, wait 20 minutes and try again.  Works every time.  Oh yea, and make sure your hose is not blocked...you are running it with a blocked hose it will cut out as well.

Tried all of the above the next morning and nothing worked.  Talked to Festool and they had me separate the top (it lifts right off) and ship back to them.  They supplied UPS label.  What's the old saying, you don't miss them till they're gone.  It's tough using the festools without a dedicated collector.  Service said it should take 2 days before they ship back but I bet will be awhile with Thanksgiving on the horizon.  Will keep you posted.

Dan, same thing happened to mine  (ct22) yesterday.  Only been using it about 30 minutes and she killed over.  I tried all of the above solutions though every thing was clean and still no luck.  Hope I get more than a couple of months use next time.    CS didn't  offer any solutions other than shipping the head back so I'm guessing this must be a problem they have addressed already.  Going to be a lonely week without my baby.

Too funny, that is usually how I find out my bag is full! I don't think I have ever noticed a sudden loss of suction with my CT33 while working. There have been times where the end of my hose has grabbed something (when not on a tool) like my shirt, pant leg, floor, wall or whatever and I definitely hear the vac change it's pitch/tone. But never have I noticed it from a full bag when it clogs all the way up the hose to the saw or router.

Of course there is the distinct possibility that because the vac is so dang quiet to begin with, that I simply can't hear it over the tool that I am using.

I've got three Festool vacs so I don't have to suffer your same fate.  Could be a good excuse to buy a backup. [wink]

I received the excellent service and support that you would expect of Festool.  New motor and switch were installed and sent back within 8 days so my dust collector has come back to life.  They took care of everything in a professional manner  (no cost either).  Not the norm these days and I am very appreciative of their great service.  I believe it is about time for a backup, maybe Santa will leave a new model under the tree.

Dan, thanks for sharing the results. Glad you had a great service experience. Sorry you had to do without your CT for a week. I would agree with it not being the norm and I take a lot of personal pride in working for a company that takes care of its customers the way we ourselves would want to be taken care of. I say that with plenty of not-so-pleasant personal experiences with other companies in various industries.

I'm not sure of the U.S. 110V model CL22e, But the one I have states the limit for output draw of the switched outlet at 2kv.
- Not sure if this can relate to your problem, but overstepping that boundary would probably void the warranty, I have the Precisio CS70 (2200V) and never run it through the vac for that reason.

Rick, you out there?
