I vaguely remember a post (by Shane?) related to an adapter or something for “Classic” Systainers and their attachment to the new CT26/36.  I could not locate it via Search.

Am I remembering this correctly?  If so, where can I find more information?  My Sortainer is sitting quite loosely and feels like it’s rattling around.

Also (the main reason I chose this particular forum board:
With the recessed area for Systainer attachment, if you install the add-on tool holder accessory (496122), a Sortainer sitting atop the CT26 cannot open the bottom drawer.  The metal bar of the tool holder’s ‘leg’ blocks the corner of the lowest drawer.

Welp, after replicating it, looks like it won't work unfortunately. I guess that was overlooked in the design process. Sorry, I don't have a solution for you.

Thanks for the quick reply Shane.  Because of my shop layout, I wound up deciding to mount the tool holder on a post directly behind my MFT (yay zip ties).  Seems like that'll work great, and if I need to go mobile I can deal with removing the Sortainer.

OK, I must be missing something here...

I have a CT26 (and very pleased with it I am too).

The Systainer that my TS55 came in fits just fine to the top of the CT26 without any adapter.

There's no adapter required for any systainer to work with any CT. The CT MINI/MIDI models have a very slight amount of wiggle when using the new, soon-to-be-released-in-the-US T-Loc systainers. There is a set of replacement latches which can help with the wiggle if it's problematic. However, in my testing I shook the snot out of it and that joker wasn't coming loose.

Shane,

"However, in my testing I shook the snot out of it and that joker wasn't coming loose."

I was looking for the part # for "snot", help!!! ???

Shane is it possible to get these tabs via a parts order or something?  I have a Midi, but wasn't the original (registered) owner.

Since we don't have the T-Loc systainers yet, we don't have the replacement latches for the MINI/MIDI. Like I said, in my opinion (and it's just take, my opinion) there isn't enough of a problem to worry about it. The wiggle room is less than 2mm, I would estimate.

I suspect once we get the new T-Loc systainers, the latches will be made available for those who find it an issue. This does not effect the classic (current) systainers.

I think I saw that you're coming to one of the upcoming classes. Remind me and I'll show you what it's all about.

Just a few other notes and observations about the CT26, now that I've had it a few weeks.

> It is so easy on the ears.  Some fellows we have doing some random work on our house have commented several times about how quiet it is, and without the shop-vac type "whine".  I don't automatically reach for ear muffs when I just want to vacuum up some mess.

> The CT26 and a Sortainer3 or Sys3 will juuuust fit under the MFT 1080/800 tables.  This was a big plus in my decision to get the 26 vs. 36.

> I think the accessory holder that nestles into the hose garage area is fantastic, and also the rear-mounted holder.
I used to stuff these things into the Sortainer, and it was an awkward and tight fit.  Now that Sortainer space is available for other goodies.   [smile]

> It is significantly bigger than my Midi.  It is also significantly heavier, especially when full.  But since I am going to be working more workshop-centric, this is OK.  It does make me consider keeping the Midi for my portable needs (e.g. up the stairs.. take to my family's houses)

> I love not having to worry about the plug adapter dongle!  And the cord wrap in the back is great.

I haven't yet reached the point of 'it was worth every penny!'.  But, I'm very pleased with it and glad to have decided on the upgrade.   [thumbs up]

What cord wrap?

Dangit, I can't find a picture of it online.  Shane'll probably have one up here as soon as I click "Post".
If not, I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight and post it.

But it's mentioned in the description:   "A cord wrap is supplied to attach to the rear of the unit. "

Found one.  It's of the CT36, but the same one on the 26...

Cool, thanks for the info Wood_Junkie.  I recently got the 26 but it had no cord wrap. Since I loved the feature on the 22 I checked the Dutch Festool site if I could get it separately but it was not mentioned there. At least now I know it does exist. Gonna order it asap.

I don't know if the Europe model is different, but it is included here.

Here's the FestoolUSA EKAT with part number.  I would suggest you get 2 of the attachment screw shown.  They're quite long and not a normal hardware-store variety.

Nah, it's probably the same. I just got mine 2nd hand and a lot cheaper, sometimes in this situation you have to accept some (minor) flaws.

I checked the Dutch Ekat, seems I'll have to visit my local Festool dealer tomorrow. Good of you to mention the screws, wouldn't have thought about that.

I'm guessing that the cord holder is shipped with the CT26/36 loose in the box for the customer to fit themselves. My reasoning is that on my CT26, which I bought second-hand, it's fitted upside down. If it was factory fitted, I don't think it'd leave the factory like that. At least, I hope not... [eek]

You are correct, it was separate.  I almost overlooked it in the big ol' box.  In fact, there was a few minutes where I was starting to get peeved about it missing... then realized all that cardboard wasn't just for filler.    [embarassed]

Like Wood Junkie I have had my CT36 for a few weeks and I've noticed an improvement in suction over my CT22. Really like the queit too. Now the situation I'm having is I can't turn down the speed enough to prevent the smaller sanders ( RTS, DTS, ETS 125 ) from sticking to the wood. For the ETS 150 I have set it at about 1/2 speed for most papers. Anyone else with this happening, I hesitate to call it a problem, right now it's a concern. Also seems a bit more unstable with the boom arm attached compared to the CT22.

Interesting, I've only used my RO125 with the 26 so I haven't noticed any issues.  I'm going to have try it out with the rest of my fleet.
