I love the FOG b/c we are always striving for a better setup...and I am attempting to do something similar....there are many questions here, thanks for looking.
I have very easy access the space above my shop, steps/door, lights, etc.. it's just a sloping roofline / rafters. I have a reason for getting my vacs off the floor - related to children - and I was thinking of placing my CT26 directly on the joists above my shop (i would use plywood base of course), and running the hose through the sheetrock...my hope is it would act similarly to the boom arm. My shop ceilings are 10ft high.
my first and easiest question is probably to use my CT midi directly over my MFT, for use with the TS55 and OF1400. Does anyone have an estimate of the "excess" hose I would need to maneuver? If the hose came directly from my MFT through the ceiling joists, i figure i would lose ~ 18inches above the ceiling, and then another 7ft as we drop to the height of the MFT. That would leave me 3.5ft of "excess" to work with. My gut says that is not enough. Care to weigh in? Obviously there are longer hoses available, what is the consensus on those longer hoses, do you lose significant suction?
my next question involves setting up the ct26 for dedicated (for now) use with my Kapex, and adding in an ultimate dust deputy. I feel like the excess hose is less important here, since the Kapex is stationary. so my real question is this - what size mr nozzle hose do you guys recommend to use in place of the 36mm hose? And will it connect to the UDD without using any type of special connector?
Final question...what would you guys do to protect the ceiling sheetrock from being 'rubbed' with the ridged hose, over and over?
I know I asked a lot, thanks in advance!
